Dreamwidth sock accounts...

So I'm feeling pretty brain dead right now - I need to create a sock account to post anonymously to Dreamwidth for an exchange. It's been a year since I've used it - can't recall, do you simply create an account with a nonsensical name? Does your email not show up on the post you make?

If anyone has any advice, it'd be appreciated.

There's probably something in the settings to hide an email address, once you've created the account. But I'd assume it works roughly the same as creating an LJ.

(I don't play around much on DW, so don't quote me)

Thank you. That's what staying up 'til 3am editing a video does to me - it was as simple as creating an account with a dummy name linked to a dummy email and a dummy youtube address. Gah.

Too many steps, but insanely easy once you realize 'sock account' just means 'dummy account,' lol.....

Just select 'private' or whatever in the settings, and nobody can see your e-mail address at all, same as LJ.

Thank you! Yeah, saw the light eventually -what was needed was an account with a name other than the one I use on the comm hosting the exchange. Somehow I thought there was a way to hide the user name on that forum, too, but of course there isn't. Lol.. I think I mostly badly needed some sleep. ;).
