NaNoWriMo day #4

(I used the postpone function for this post, apologies if it ends up posting at the wrong time, haha...)

We're halfway the first week already! How are your characters doing? How are you doing?
More importantly, coffee or tea? Which one is your drink of choice during NaNo?

My characters like to eat. I thought before I jumped in where my notes begin, I'd toss in a bit where we can get to know my people. Well, there's been 3 lunches and a dinner and I'm only 8,000 words in! LOL I have started up with where my notes begin so that's a good thing!
My beverage of choice is tea. I'm out of Earl Grey so I'm just using lots and lots of regular tea. Strong tea because I let it steep until it's as dark as my coffee which gets up and walks away on its own! :D
If I keep up with my word counts I'm buying a box of chai spice and a box of earl grey this weekend as my reward! *fingers crossed*

Tea always, NaNo or not. :D

though, if I decide to go crazy and actually try NaNo, this year.. it'll be tequila. LOL

I actually write a lot more when drunk, and (hilarious or sadly, depends on one's point of view) it usually doesn't need as much editing.

LOL Love it :D

This is so true. Years ago, I drunk-wrote a 2000-word fic and the next day, expecting it to be perfectly awful and riddled with mistakes, I was surprised that it was actually better than a lot of my other (sober) writing at the time. Hah!

Guess it helps turn our inner editors off, which isn't such a bad thing sometimes, haha.

Im onto the Stargate Group. Already McKays being a loveable ass to everyone.

But I am doing well with my goal for short chapters.

Oh, hey, it posted! One for you, Livejournal.

245 words is all I have so far today, which... isn't good at all, haha. Will report back after midnight o7

It's a start, though! Go you; you can do it! ;-)

I managed a little over 200 words last night, but Tuesdays are always difficult. A plus note is that today I am not at work as I have to go to my two daughters' school prize-giving (they are both getting something!) and the timing was off, so NO WORK!!! YAYAY! More words this afternoon after that's done (in an aside, I can't believe my eldest will no longer be at high school after today...)

And this year I'm drinking lemon & ginger tea with honey, as I am off regular tea, and the odd coffee now and then.

OMG, my world is over. Life as I know it will never be the same again. Why, you ask?

I think my computer is dying! I mean terminally ill, dying.

It hiccuped last night, as if it had a small stroke. I thought I saved my work (I've been writing each chapter on individual docs, just in case). I haven't done a damn thing all day today, just too busy with other crap, but I thought I might get maybe 100-200 words out before bed.

When I went to open the last chapter, it was gone. GONE, I SAY! That's 355 words just disappeared into thin air. (Yes, I've kept individual counts for each chapter, too. What, I'm anal like that.)

I've searched from one end of my computer to the other, and given it to my husband to search, as he's the more savvy of us two. Can't find it.

And now I'm looking at my desktop, which I keep very clean, and all the icons are dorked up. Example: Skype has Adobe's icon, explorer has Chrome, Scrivener has Excel, Adobe has Publisher. Oh, and Word also has a Chrome icon. On my task at, I used to keep just three items - my folders, Chrome, and something else I couldn't get rid of, so ignored. Now, I have Explorer that looks like one of the open document icons (not the folder, but he upright page on the stand), Windows media player but with an HP box, and the Document Folders icon for Chrome.

I really don't know who is more confused, me or the computer. And yes, I've restarted the damn thing.

I want a new, reliable computer. Is that too much to ask? (Shame it won't get here before this thing is over.)

Le Sigh. Back to writing with pen and paper. Bugger.

Oh, and I think if this computer doesn't get its shit together pronto, there will be no tea OR coffee in my near future (I like both, drink both, am not picky now that we own a Nespresso machine).

No, the tequila-vodka-wine-kahlua will be my drink of choice. Maybe not all at once..

I hit 20k on day 4...color me shocked.
I'll probably hit 25 on day 6...unless this evening's homework quest goes faster than anticipated ;) I'm trying to get the homework done so that I can spend the majority of the weekend writing again :)
