NaNoWriMo

Hello, my writing peeps!

Just a quick question, and feel free to wipe me off the planet if this is the last thing any of you want to know about/discuss etc:

Is anybody contemplating taking on NaNoWriMo this year? I've thought about it in the past, but this year, I think I'm finally in a place where I can actually do this - even though it requires planning, and even worse, a plot.

It's just, I think I might need some encouragement, you know? Maybe somebody who can shoot me an email, or daily PM or something like that. A visual kick in the arse, as it were. I'm willing to return the favour, if needed! I know I can't spend all day on social media, cause that defeats the purpose of setting a writing goal, but as much as the family is behind me (meaning, in theory, but the reality is a different beast), you guys are my best bet for success, I think.

Also, does anyone know if bluespirit on AO3 is here on LJ? I need to contact her(?) and ask a question, but it doesn't need to be out there for all the world to read.

Ta - and many happy words to you all. :)

I have all the enthusiasm to do it, and the plot is TOTALLY worthy of the word count.... but I spend more time plotting the ideas than writing anything.

Good luck to you!

Ahh, I feel you. For me, it was always this mad urge to write, but the dreaded blank screen effectively nixed any budding ideas long before they could actually grow into anything resembling an actual plot. Most of the time, I can't find a plot in a wet paper bag with a road map and compass. I'm actually surprised I've written out as much as I have this time around. Even if I don't plot the entire story, or write a synopsis of every chapter, I've given myself a better chance of completing this thing than any other year.

Well, if I actually start it on November 1st, that is!

I have an hour in the car, each way, daily.. so plenty of time to plot with no way to write it down (WHERE ARE YOU FUTURE CARS THAT DRIVE THEMSELVES??) And by the time I get to where I can write it down, I have nothing. LOL

You need to use the voice memo function on the phone (if you have a smartphone, I'm making no assumptions here!). If you're driving by yourself, you can talk away, recording all the plot points you want, and then download, or transcribe them later to the computer. I've tried it myself, but my best ideas usually happen in the middle of the night; my husband does not appreciate me whispering into my phone at 0300, especially if it's a racy porn scene between Steve and Danny. For some reason, he thinks I'm cheating on him, lol!

LMAO. I do drive alone, yes. And I have considered trying it, but just don't have the oomph to try new technology :D

Ah, fair enough. If not a smartphone, maybe an old fashioned tape recorder, or dictaphone.

Yes, I'm a dog with a bone, I know. I just hate the idea of you losing good ideas simply because you have no way to record them! Plot bunnies are precious resources, and should be nurtured. :)
