Weekend Challenge!

Hey everyone, How's it going? For all of our American members, the weekend's underway early with Independence day, but even if you aren't American, it's probably time to down tools and pick up your pens! So come on down and join in with this weekend's challenge.

And it's a simple one this time around. Here's how it works: I'll have my iPod on shuffle. You comment here to let me know if you want a title, an artist, or a line from the lyrics (or all three should you wish). I'll check what song's up next on my iPod and give you your choice from that. Use the resulting prompt to be inspired however you will, be it with words or pictures, but I'm hoping to see at least 500 words or 3 icons per prompt.

Rewards this week will be a drabble or a limerick from yours truly for anything you complete before midnight Sunday EST. I'll take one-word prompts for whichever fandom you choose from the list found here.

Now, hit me with your comments! I'll be back in my morning to offer up your prompts!

I... honestly didn't realize it was already the weekend.

I'd like a title and a line of lyrics (from two different songs), please!
Jul. 5th, 2014 12:24 am (UTC)
Title: Tender is the Night (Jackson Browne)

Lyric: Close your eyes, breathe in, and I'll take you there and back again. (from There & Back Again by Daughtry)

Good luck! ;-)

I'll take a title AND an artist, please!

I wasn't sure if you want the same song or different, so I'll give you two songs and two artists, then you can choose which you prefer.

1. Get Some Sleep (Bic Runga)

2. All I Want (Joni Mitchell)

Have fun! ;-)

Becasue I always try the weekend challenge and usually fail at delivering.. why the Hell not...

I'll take title and lyrics from a couple... :)

Should do something like this with my own ipod, that'll get me a lot of Frank Sinatra. <3 (Love me some Frank!)
Jul. 5th, 2014 12:32 am (UTC)
Sorry, not much Frank in my iPod, but try these:

1. Title: Five Miles Out (Mike Oldfield)
Lyric: And the evil eye of the hurricane's coming in now for the kill

2. Title: Fix You (Coldplay)
Lyric: I promise you I will learn from my mistakes

Good luck!

I'm in - How about one song title, one lyric?
Jul. 5th, 2014 12:35 am (UTC)
I'm assuming two different songs, so I'll give you these:

Title: The Flame (Cheap Trick)

Lyric: I know that you can't be with me until I start talking some kind of sense (from Flaming Bed by Blue Rodeo)

Have fun!

This is worked out well for me as I have a bingo prompt burn for hc_bingo. I need 5 more icons for the bingo fill but thought I'd put up my 3 challenge icons for "The Flame"- Things turned out a bit busy for me this weekend so going to skip the lyric prompt.

Oh wow, these are awesome! Well done!

Give me a fandom and one-word prompt and I'll write you the limerick or drabble of your choice as your reward! ;-)

LOST: smores

Enough - Lost, Sawyer/Juliet, PG
Wow, LOST! Feels like I haven't written anything in Lost for ages! I checked your LJ to see who your favourites were so I hope this works for you - it's more than a drabble, but that shouldn't matter - I just hope it seems complete! It was supposed to be a slice of life thing:

"Know what one of the things I missed out there was?" Sawyer asks as he takes the cup of coffee she offers him.

Juliet knows
when he means, so she just lifts an eyebrow in question as she seats herself on the couch opposite him, curling her legs to one side and sipping her coffee as she waits for him to continue.

"Smores." He cradles his hot coffee in his hands and looks through her into the memory.

"Smores? I don't think we have any marshmallows or I'd make you some right now."

Sawyer focuses on her again as he smiles. "No wonder I ended up here."

Juliet isn't sure what he means by that, but she's found that with Sawyer it's easier to get answers by giving him space than pushing for them, so she smiles back at him but says nothing.

He sips from his coffee, his dimples deep and his eyes on her over the rim of the cup. When he lowers it, he tilts his head slightly and rubs at his lip with a thumb, but he still doesn't speak.

She loves watching him when he's like this - relaxed and thoughtful - though they're two things she never imagined she'd witness in him, once upon a time. He used to be so angry all the time, but it's gradually changed since they arrived in 1977 and she likes to think she has something to do with that.

"Should I get some?" she asks after a moment. "We could make them over a campfire if you want."

"I'd like that," he replies, his southern accent softening on the fondness evident in the words.

"Me too," she agrees.

They smile at each other easily, and while this wasn't the revelation she'd hoped for, somehow it feels like she learned something important.

It's enough for now.

Yay! I'm so glad you enjoyed! ;-)
Jul. 4th, 2014 02:39 pm (UTC)
Because I clearly don't already have enough on my to-do list.

I'll take a title and a line from lyrics.
Jul. 5th, 2014 12:40 am (UTC)
I wasn't sure if you want the same song or different, so I'll give you two songs and two artists, then you can choose which you prefer.

1. Title: Fly Like an Eagle (Steve Miller Band)
Lyric: House the people livin' in the street

2. Title: Follow Through (Gavin Degraw)
Lyric: And what you do to me is unlike anything that's ever been

Good luck! ;-)
Jul. 4th, 2014 03:20 pm (UTC)
I have no idea if i would ever finish, but I'll give it a try in case I feel inspired. Give me a title
Jul. 5th, 2014 12:41 am (UTC)
Sure! No pressure but give it a go if you can:

Title: Follow Me, Follow You (Genesis)

Have fun! ;-)
Jul. 4th, 2014 04:50 pm (UTC)
Gimme all three!
Jul. 5th, 2014 12:48 am (UTC)
All righty - I wasn't sure if you want three different ones or all from the same song, so here's three of each and you can choose:

1. Title: I Won't Let You Go (Artist: James Morrison)
Lyric: Close your eyes and you might believe

2. Title: High Flying Bird (Artist: Elton John)
Lyric: I wear a chain upon my wrist that bears no name

3. Title: Why Don't We Get Drunk (Artist: Jimmy Buffett)
Lyric: So barmaid bring a pitcher, another round o' brew

Choose which suits you best, and play! ;-)
Jul. 4th, 2014 05:16 pm (UTC)
Title and lyric, please :D

(Not that I should be participating, ahem.)

Jul. 5th, 2014 12:51 am (UTC)
I'm guessing same song so I'll give you these:

Title: Photograph (Nickleback)
Lyric: They say somebody went and burned it down

Good luck! ;-)
Jul. 4th, 2014 11:46 pm (UTC)
All right, give me a lyric :)
Jul. 5th, 2014 12:54 am (UTC)
A lyric it is:

Sleepin' with your back to your loved one (from Check it Out by John Mellencamp)

Have fun! ;-)
Jul. 5th, 2014 01:19 am (UTC)
I'll take a title and a lyric, but different songs please.
Jul. 5th, 2014 04:24 am (UTC)
No problem!

Title: Kryptonite (3 Doors Down)

Lyric: You may be living in another country under another name (from Gotta Serve Somebody by Bob Dylan)

Good luck!
Jul. 5th, 2014 01:32 am (UTC)
I'm in!

And ya know what? Hit me with all three! Title, artist and a line from the lyrics! Something has to work to inspire me, right? :D

Thank you!
Jul. 5th, 2014 04:27 am (UTC)
Cool! I'm assuming you mean the same song, but let me know if it's no good and you want a couple of other choices.

Title: Save Myself (Artist: Blue Rodeo)
Lyric: Sometimes I wish I could walk away and start all over again

Hope that offers you something to work with! ;-)
