Weekend Challenge: Everybody Sing!

The idea for this weekend challenge came from my accomplice associate enabler good friend bluedelft, who by-the-by will also be your graphic rewarder! Yay bluedelft!!!

I asked her what she'd like to see as a challenge and she said Broadway Musicals! Okay then - Broadway Musicals it is!! (I'm not much of a fan myself but I can Google with the best of them!)

Listed below are 34 Broadway Musicals (well, 32 because I accidentally included Guys & Dolls on the graphic twice and bluedelft included two songs from Les Mis sooooo....) along with a song from that musical. Some of the musicals and songs were suggested by bluedelft, some were suggested by our good friends at Google. If there is a movie and a broadway version of the show, I tried to make sure the song was in the Broadway version, just FYI.

In presenting this challenge, I decided to let you, good people of 1_million_words, choose your own prompt from the given list. To make it fair, I'm going to wait until Friday at noon my time - New York time (or whenever I'm at my computer close to then)- to open the claiming. That way, more people will have a chance to see the list before claiming begins. It would be fabulous if each prompt was claimed only once. If they are all taken, we'll open it up for second claims on the same prompt.

Your assignment, should you choose to accept it, is to pick a musical and create using the song prompt. You can include other songs from the musical but you NEED to include the given song. There will be hundreds of versions of each song, I'm sure, so don't worry which version of the song you listen to. They don't vary too much from Broadway to the movies to TV. If you aren't sure, you can always Google the original broadway cast recording. Some of them were made before most of you were born, I feel certain.

It would be fabulous if the song lyrics were your muse, but if only the song title speaks to you, that's fine as well.

I will provide a written reward for any who choose to receive it. bluedelft the magnificent will provide graphic rewards to any who wish it. (I made the graphic for this challenge. Don't think it's her work because she is mucho talented and I am, clearly, not.)
