Temperature blankets

So i got a late start on this as i wasn't too sure how i wanted to do it, but i finished up the quilt block I'm doing for January, wonky as it is lol. With the crazy ass weather we're getting for February, I'm eager to see how that one is going to look. Have any of you made progress? Had odd moments? Just boggled
at the crazy weather? (First two days of January were in the 70s for us)

lighting is horrible, but there's January

That's really cute! Makes me wish I had the skill to do something like this.

thank you! this was not the easiest way to go about it, i'll say that lol, but the other ways i had graphed out were going to come out really huge or odd sized. this is still going to come out pretty big as that block is about 16in. I wanted to do a high/low version but i was going to wind up needing six more colors to coordinate with what i already had or 12 all new colors lol. As is, i severely underestimated how much fabric this is going to take and am going to have to go buy more anyway lol. Honestly, if you can cut and sew relatively straight, using blocks would be pretty easy to do. But on the flip side, I can't grow things, so you've got me there :D

Yeah, Christmas is proof that I can't cut straight so... I'll stick to gardening, I think! But I'll be interested to see how this turns out in the end.

Well that's fantastic! It never occurred to me to do the temp as a quilt block. I'm aiming for a shawl/scarf in black-to-white range

i hit up youtube and found people doing all kinds of neat versions in quilts. I honestly kept going back and forth on whether to crochet something or quilt it but I couldn't make a decision on the yarn and the fabric was all on really good sale at the time. I did think of a really neat way to do a crochet version using the highs and lows, but so much yarn... I think I saw some pics of projects that did the white to black version and looked really neat

LOL Partly the reason for the B&W is that I have A LOT of black yarn -- I tried to make a wig for a Vanellope costume, based on a YT tutorial I found for yarn wigs for kids...

It didn't work.

Wonderful! It's going to be really interesting to see how it progresses! My temp blanket is mostly one colour so far as we're in full swing summer and temps are staying very much in my 2nd colour range. I'd put a pic in here but I'm on the app and it's not user friendly enough to do that!

yeah, our summer will probably be about the same, but right now the temps are swinging from 40s to 70s so it's a little crazy. had to turn the heater on two days ago, cut the ac back on yesterday and been going all day today but supposed to get cold again tomorrow lol

wow! that looks great! (I couldnt cut a straight line if my life depended upon it )

its finally going to warm back up tomorrow — we're at our favorite, and usually warm, winter park down by the gulf, but its freezing this year. this weather is crazy!

I'm in central Florida and it's been pretty warm but it's cooling down some this weekend, we should be able to turn the ac off anyway. It blows my mind it's snowing just 12hrs drive away (for reference for some, I typically drive about 4hrs back to where i grew up in south Georgia, texas is about 12hrs away i think)

**waves at you** Florida, huh? We are currently parked in Gulf Shores :) Our neighbor who was camped beside us gave up and zoomed down to Florida because she was so sick of the cold and rain. One of our friends up near Birmingham had a high of 21 a couple of days ago. I agree--this weather is nuts. At least it should finally warm up tomorrow!!!

That's lovely! I've been crocheting a blanket for my sister - about two thirds of the way there I think. And then I'm going to make my first 'wearable' - a maxi cardigan for myself *gulp*
