NaNoWriMo 2019: Day 5--What's in a Name?

Day 5 Word Count Target: 8335

Today's topic...the never-ending quest for just the right name.

I don't think I'm alone in feeling that finding the right name for a character is always a challenge. There are rare instances where just the right name springs into mind, fully formed, or the character comes with his name already on his lapel. For the rest, however, we writers lean heavily on baby name books, phonebooks, census listings, and real-life encounters to give us naming inspiration.

The links below contain a variety of options. First names, last names, genre names. The ability to generate random collections of names. I've used all of them at various times so hopefully, they will help you avoid being 'stuck' in your count goal by the inability to find just the right moniker for your hero, or your villain, or anyone else who wonders across your story's stage.
