The meat of any story is conflict, between your characters and someone else...or something else...or maybe even with themselves. As much as we try to avoid conflict in our daily lives, stories without some manner of conflict are less gripping for the reader. How to create gripping conflict, and when to know if there's enough, can be a tricky question for many writers.
