Fill: Original fic Jimmy Bogart/Desmond Richard
"Enough with the puppy dog eyes, Desmond," Jimmy firmly told his injured lover. Desmond had laid down his motorcycle the week before to avoid hitting a kid who had chased his dog out into the street. "The doctor ordered bed rest, and that's what you are going to get."

"Since when do you listen to a medical professional?" Desmond growled in frustration. "I've been laid up for the better part of a week. All I'm asking is to be allowed to rest in the living room today."

"That's not the request I'm saying no to," Jimmy pointed out as he held out a hand to Desmond. "I'd be more than happy to help you to the couch."

"I don't see how receiving a blow job can be considered strenuous activity," Desmond muttered while catching hold of Jimmy's hand and pulling himself to his feet.

"Doctor said no sex," Jimmy reminded his lover with a sly smirk.

Desmond sighed. "Once I've received a clean bill of health, we will revisit this topic and you are going to pay dearly."

Jimmy shook his head, but didn't rise to the bait. He knew Desmond was tired of being coddled, but Jimmy would do anything to keep Desmond by his side for as long as possible.

"Love you, too," Desmond said before brushing a soft kiss against Jimmy's cheek.

Jimmy smiled and helped Desmond into the living room for a day of rest and mindless t.v.

The Mentalist, Cho/Vega
(Still on a Mentalist rewatch, still in denial of canon)

“Dance with me.”

It was hard to hear Michelle over the noise of the street party, the band playing on the bandstand, the audience singing along, the throng of people talking and laughing. Still, Cho didn’t need to be able to hear her clearly to know what she was asking. He might not be Patrick Jane, but the lean of her head towards the dance floor, the smile on her lips, to say nothing of the tilt of her hips, all made it pretty easy to read her.

“No.” He took a couple of steps towards the bar, rested his elbows on the cheap plywood.

He knew that wouldn’t be the end of it though. When had Michelle Vega ever given up on anything she wanted?

“Come on.” She stepped closer to him, mimicking his posture and bumping her elbow against his. “I bet you’re a great dancer.”

Cho didn’t turn his head. “I don’t dance.” She clucked her tongue and he looked at her then. She was looking up at him from underneath her lashes, lower lip sticking out in the tiniest of pouts. It was pretty damn adorable actually. “Forget it, Michelle... puppy dog eyes don’t work on me.”

“That’s in the office,” Michelle reminded him, this time bumping her hip against his. “We’re not in the office.”

This much was true and because of that, Cho did something he would never usually do, leaned back a little and let his eyes travel very obviously over her body, in particular the jeans that were a damn sight more form fitting than anything she would ever wear around the office. “Obviously.”

Michelle’s jaw dropped and for a brief moment, Cho thought he was in trouble. Then her eyes lit up and her lips curled in a brilliant smile and he realised that the trouble was of a completely different kind. “There’s no-one here from work,” she said and suddenly her disappearing act where she’d wandered around the edges of the dance floor made perfect sense. “And I promise, no wandering hands, I’ll be perfectly respectable.”

Cho’s lips twitched. “Where’s the fun in that?”

Her smile grew even wider, something Cho would have said wasn’t possible and she shook her head, chuckling softly. When she met his gaze again, nothing about the look in her eyes was the slightest bit puppy like. “Dance with me, Kimball,” she said softly, her hand closing over his then moving so that their fingers were laced together.

Put it all together and Cho was helpless to refuse her.

“You’d better not put those eyes on me in the office,” he grumbled, half as joke, half as warning. She laughed as she dropped his hand, leaning into him as he slid his arm around her waist. “You’ll ruin my reputation.”

“Well...” she said, drawing out the word like she was considering it. “That might take two dances.”

Cho pursed his lips but they both knew what he was going to say.

“You’ve got a deal.”

RE: The Mentalist, Cho/Vega
Nice story.

Nothing wrong with a little canon denial.

Re: The Mentalist, Cho/Vega
Ah yes, I love this! And FYI, I was hearing Lee Brice's "I Don't Dance" in my head while reading this. <3

And as far as cannon goes, there is so much to deny with this show. GRR.

Re: The Mentalist, Cho/Vega
Oh my god, I’m so happy someone got the reference and the title! It popped into my head when Cho said “I don’t dance” and that was it for me!

I started a rewatch by accident a couple of weeks ago - Aesop’s one is one one of the satellite channels here, season 3 on another and I was inspired to root out my season 7 DVDs because of Cho and Vega. After a horrendous couple of months that did more of a number on me than I realised, that and this challenge was just what I needed!

Re: The Mentalist, Cho/Vega
OMG, SCORE! I'm always in the minority when it comes to loving country music that it never occurred to me that someone else might, too. Especially someone like Lee Brice who is only really starting to gain some traction.

I really did love this show when it was on and seeing your fic has made me happy. Glad to hear that it's giving you what you needed. :) Hope that things are better for you now.

Re: The Mentalist, Cho/Vega
Thanks - been a rough few months and September (back to school) isalways a bit mad but I think I’m getting there!

I know just what you mean about country music but I love Lee Brice - if anything comes along where I can reference “Rumor”, I’ll be ball over it! And the title for the Day 4 comment fic challenge response I did is “Seeing Red” which definitely came from the Dustin Lynch song - I think I’ll end up making myself a Cho/Vega playlist if I’m not careful!!

Re: The Mentalist, Cho/Vega
I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully it gets easier! And back to school sucks. My baby is a senior this year so I'm hoping the start of college is easier. *sigh*

OMG, I wrote a whole multi-chapter fic inspired by "Rumor" so yeah. This is why I love country music so much - it really does seem to fit with my characters more than anything else. Wait, you don't have one already? I always wonder what someone would think if they ever accessed my Spotify account and all the fic-related playlists I have. Hahaha.

Re: The Mentalist, Cho/Vega
What fandom/fic was it? I am intrigued!

And I have fic /ship playlists on Spotify just not for Cho/Vega yet. Though I sense that will change rapidly...

It was original work. Chapter one is here if you're interested. (If not, it's all good.)

Hah, go for it! (And can I suggest Kane Brown's "What Ifs"?)

Oh my god I love that song so much! I very associate it with Nick and Ellie from NCIS but it would work for Cho/Vega too!

OZ - After Work Plans
“You’re always saying how we don’t see each other outside of work anymore,” said Tim.

Sean nodded. All he really wanted to do tonight was go home, turn on some music, and veg out on the couch. It turned out his best friend had other plans.

“So come with me for a drink. It’ll be fun. I promise I’ll have you home by your bedtime.”

“Okay,” Sean said.

Tim grinned. “See you at Kelley’s at six.”

“Sure.”

“Pathetic.”

Sean turned toward Claire’s voice as she echoed his thoughts. “I don’t think I asked for your opinion.”

“Too bad. All the guy has to do is turn on the puppy dog eyes and you’re following him around.”

“Those aren’t puppy dog eyes. That’s just how he looks.”

“Please. He’s a whimper away from going full-on canine and you know it.” Claire whined complete with her version of puppy dog eyes. “You want to pet me, Murphy? I could roll over and show you just what a good girl I could be.”

“Ah… well… I probably should be heading out.”

“You sure I can’t convince you otherwise?”

“Maybe some other time,” Sean said, backing away and bumping his shoulder against a bank of lockers as he headed toward freedom. He suddenly felt a lot less tired.
