Monday's rain turns into Tuesday's sun!

awesome Monday.jpg

Monday is here again (or for most of you it is, anyway; it's just turned into Tuesday here!). I hope you all had a great weekend, and for most of you that spring is well and truly in the air. In these parts, autumn has arrived; colours are changing in many places (even though in this mild city we don't exactly get extreme temperatures) and the air is cooling down. I had a good, if busy weekend - my daughter got back from her amazing trip to Borneo, and there was much to do and talk about!

Words have not been going so well this month for me, so I need to buckle down in May, and the perfect way to kick into that is that our wonderful kaige68 is going to run a Music Challenge for the month! She'll be posting about that soon, so keep your eyes peeled. April's Crossover Challenge is almost at the end too, so watch out for a final post about that from your hostess, flipflop_diva, to report in on how you did!

On the upside, I did manage to finish the 1000 piece jigsaw that's been on my coffee table for a couple of months (thank you for the inspiration, K!), and have made excellent progress on the back of the baby jacket I am knitting for a workmate's baby (due in October; hopefully I can stop procrastinating on that and get it done well in time!).

So this week, I pledge to get the fic I finished some weeks back edited and off to beta, and then to get buckled down and into work on the next fic that needs finishing.

But enough about me! How are you guys going to make your week fabulous?

Here are the reminders and other things you need to help kick you off for the week:

1 – FLASH CHALLENGE – Your Monday prompt is - Rise - Give me 100 words or a graphic for the sake of saying you’ve done it!

2 –I'm sorry I won't be able to gather the links for last week's challenges, but please, if you need prompts or don't want to miss anything, scroll back through last week's entries, or check out the appropriate tags!

3 – Big Buddy 97% - Are you all on schedule so far this month? (I have been woefully inadequate, I'm afraid)

agdhani - 48,500/48.5 hours
asphaltcowgrrl - 19,400
shinysylver - 14,550
simplyn2deep - 9,700
csichick_2 - 2,910
cmk418 - 1,455
sharpiesgal -11,640
bizarra - 9,700
haldoor - 2,910
jstabe - 4,850
flipflop_diva - 4,850

4 – This month's challenge is How I Met... (crossover challenge)! This finishes up on the 3rd May, so get those last words in now!

5 - Update your counts this week! I should be adding everything up on Wednesday, but knowing me it'll take some time to get to so you may have until Thursday or Friday...

Let's be creative out there!

It's still Monday here (and raining, believe it or not)! Gah, we had our first official 100 degree day last week. IT ISN'T EVEN MAY YET MR. DESERT. So, that does not bode well for the rest of the summer.

I hope your daughter had a great time on her trip!

I completely forgot about April's challenge but did write some on it this morning before dragging my husband off for blood work and a doctor's appointment, so that's something.

The music challenge sounds like fun! I'm excited!

Congrats on finishing the puzzle! I managed to finish two books last week, which made me happy. As for words, despite being behind for most of the month, I managed to meet (and exceed my goal) so that's a plus.

Now, I'm going to go back to the book I was reading a bit ago, after I make a post about it. Something made my nerdy little heart leap and I've got to post, even if no one else cares. LOL

Oh my gosh... another hot one in LV, then. Good luck with summer not getting too unbearable.

She did! They saw and learned a lot, and had some fun along the way.

YAY for challenges and words! You can do it!

Thanks; the puzzle was fun, and while I get this terrible obsession once I'm truly immersed in one, I did feel good about getting it done! Now if I could just do the same with words!

Your nerdy little heart leap was fun! I would have been the same! ;-)

It immediately cooled down because a storm blew through, but it'll warm back up soon. I've lived here most of my life so it doesn't bother me as much as it does others. I kinda like it, honestly.

That's awesome. I'm glad she had a great experience.

You sound like my kids. They don't do them often but, when they do, they'll work on it until they're done.

Thanks! I feel so dopey about these things, but I have to get them out, too.

I finished my editing...and wrote a blurb...and did preliminary book cover work...so I'm finishing the month ahead of where I expected to be. Just in time too, because the computer's likely to be down for a few days this week or this coming weekend...
I may have the bathroom finished this week at least...so that's good.
Apr. 30th, 2019 08:40 pm (UTC)
Excellent! You're doing fantastically. Eeek about the computer, but hopefully that will be sorted quickly, and YAY for the bathroom!
Apr. 30th, 2019 08:50 pm (UTC)
Computer will just be down for moving furniture...so if all goes well it won't be longer than a day. then it will be on its new desk and hopefully won't need to move again ;)
Apr. 30th, 2019 09:00 pm (UTC)
Oh, phew! Good luck with everything! ;-)

So glad your daughter's trip went well! That must have been something else. Here, I'm hoping for a little peace this week after my jam-packed April. I haven't given up on the April challenge, hopefully I'll get on that tonight. I have a book cover to do for the H40 Big Bang as I offered to pinch hit - and if I'm going to make that happen I have to find the computer keyboard I lost in my move, lol. How come something always gets lost? And why my keyboard?

Anyway, for me hopefully it'll be run, knit, write, chill and I'm looking forward to it. Good luck with the editing, and enjoy posting- will keep an eye out for it!
Apr. 30th, 2019 08:50 pm (UTC)
Thanks, me too! She had a wonderful adventure and thoroughly enjoyed it; unfortunately she came back with a cold, but she'll survive!

Hope you managed to get something done for the April challenge, and good luck with the book cover!

Oh boy on the keyboard front... it's always the way after a move, isn't it? I hope you've found it by now and that everything else has gone relatively smoothly with the big move!

Chill and enjoy all the things! And thank you! It might be a while, but I hope to get the fic online in May sometime at the very least! ;-)

I'm 4500 words short of my goal.

Still need to work on the monthly challenge.

The pups have been extra clingy of late.

The housework desperately needs done.

And, work is driving me around the bin.

Otherwise, life is just peachy.
Apr. 30th, 2019 08:51 pm (UTC)
Keep going! I know you can do it!

Give the pups extra cuddles from me!

Housework, schmousework! It'll still be there tomorrow!

Sorry about work; I hope something lifts your day!

Apr. 30th, 2019 10:52 pm (UTC)
The pups thank you for the extra hugs. They just wish summer hadn't started so early this year.

Doing better than my goal, but I deliberately set it low this month. Glad your daughter made it back from her trip safe & sound. Things are meandering along here. Feeling the need for some "me" time but I don't think I'll be able to get away until June or July.

I'm edging into my "How I met..." fic, now it's just a question of which prompt (or prompts) to play with.I hope to have it done by the deadline.

That's all for now. Good luck with your writing!
Apr. 30th, 2019 08:53 pm (UTC)
YAY! Sometimes you just need that. Thanks - she had a great time! I hope you get some me time soon!

Good luck with the fic - hope you have your supersonic writing speed on! ;-)

I have completely stalled out. There has been a family emergency--my father has been in the hospital for more than two weeks and in ICU in another city for more than a week. I want to be able to write again as a distraction if nothing else, but it's just been impossible for me to do much of anything.

On the plus side he is doing slightly better and I have started going back to work part time, so hopefully that means I'll eventually be able to get back to things that I enjoy like writing.
Apr. 30th, 2019 08:55 pm (UTC)
I'm so sorry to hear about your father - I hope he continues to recover, and all is well again soon! Don't worry about writing too much. When there is time you'll get back to it, and it's understandable if you can't do much while there are RL things to do and worry is high! *massive hugs*
May. 1st, 2019 03:11 am (UTC)
Thank you. The doctors are seeming more positive today. He may have to spend another couple weeks in the hospital and ICU is always terrifying, but I am cautiously hoping that the worst is over.
May. 2nd, 2019 05:06 am (UTC)

So glad to hear that things are looking positive.

I've just remembered you're down to run the weekend challenge this week, so let me know if you'd rather not while all this is happening for you, and I'll take care of it.

May. 2nd, 2019 12:26 pm (UTC)
I'm sorry, there is just no way I can do it this weekend. My brother has been on hospital duty while I'm at work so I'm on hospital duty starting tomorrow. On top of that I haven't been able to think straight in quite a while.

If you want I can pick up a weekend later in the year to make up for it.
May. 3rd, 2019 10:50 pm (UTC)

That's okay, it's perfectly understandable!  No worries, I'll get right on it, and I'll push your weekend back to later in the year. I hope all goes well at the hospital - sending you a ton of healing vibes for your dad. *hugs*

Yay for the daughter being back! I hope it was an amazing trip!

I will put a prompt post up tomorrow and get the ball rolling for the music. Although I’m a fail at the crossover challenge, I’m keeping the prompt, I have ideas.

I started my next puzzle and it’s EVIL. ALL the appendages fit in all the cavities. I’m having a nightmare trying to work out the edges, haven’t even gotten to the guts! And I’m desperately trying to get something knitted before June. *headdesk*

And that’s all I’ve got! Chat at you soon!
Apr. 30th, 2019 08:59 pm (UTC)
Thanks! It was and she saw and did so many things!

Yay for the new challenge! I look forward to seeing how everyone does! Hopefully I will find some inspiration in it too!

OH NO! That really is evil. I have to say with the one I just finished, I thought it looked fine until I started doing it and realised how many coloured ares were the same, but once I got going it was nice that when a piece was right it was absolutely RIGHT and clicked into place regardless (only a couple of bits were interchangeable and I finally got them sorted), so I know how frustrating yours will be - and thus it will take some time and concentration to do. Good luck!!!

Keep at that knitting; I have faith you will get there!

I look forward to the chat! I am online at the orifice today so will keep messenger open in case you want to ping me! ;-)
