One-Day Monday!

awesome Monday.jpg

First Monday of 2019! We got this! WE HAVE OVER 6 MILLION WORDS!!! Imagine what we can do this year!

Who's up for 7 mill?

Did you resolve to do many things this year? I'm changing my wording on it this year. I'm not resolving, I'm planning and making goals. And for some reason I decided that monthly goals were the way to go for me! So I want to write for the month what averages to 100/day. Not writing everyday, because that is very difficult for me, but if I can do 200 on one day... You get it. Then beginning of the next month is new goals. Anyway, I also want to knit 1 project or 30 hours for myself, and 1 project or 30 hours for someone else. I want to read one book. I plan to clean 1 room/area in my house, like a deep clean and purge. And I want 4 days per month where I don't spend money. No online shopping, no take out, no nothing. As I type I'm on par with my words, I am right around 600, and will have more at the end of the day. I am WAY over on my personal knitting and as soon as I finish that I'll get on a gift project. I've read 1 book, and I managed to not spend on one day. I have cleaned bupkis. But there are MANY MORE DAYS in the month in which to purge my bathroom cabinets.

And now to motivate you!:

1 – FLASH CHALLENGE – Your Monday prompt is - "I found this in a old coat pocket." Give me 100 words or a graphic for the sake of saying you’ve done it, and make it a strange and fun thing!

2 – Reminder of last week’s challenges:

100-in-100 - Auld Lang Syne - Resolution - WIP Push - A - Brusquerie - Snowflake Challenge - Postiche - 2 - Scrooch - Say What Friday - Luculent - Weekend Challenge - Supplicate

It's been a struggle to get started writing this month so I'm a bit short. I'm currently at 1456. Hopefully I can get back into the swing of things soon.

It's early! You have plenty of time, so don't stress it. We're here to help and cheerlead, too.

I love the idea of monthly goals and you're doing great with them so far. The only thing I've resolved to do was not to purchase any more books. I have so, so many lying around everywhere. I need to cull the herd and donate a bunch of them to the library. Now, if I could only curb my instinct to order everything I want from PaperbackSwap (since it's not technically BUYING)... Send reinforcements, I need them. Everything else is, like you said, a goal in progress.

So far, I'm killing the word count - 6,770 so far! And I haven't even touched my WIP, although I have the document open and waiting as we speak.

THURSDAY I GET TO TAKE MY KID TO SEE THE GOLDEN KNIGHTS PLAY THE SAN JOSE SHARKS!! I AM SO EXCITED AND I CANNOT WAIT! She's beyond stoked as well.

WOOHOO HOCKEY!!!!!

I have promised myself that I cannot buy a book until I finish and purge one. IDK. Maybe.

AND GO YOU WITH THE WORDS!

Yeah, and last I heard, they were on a 6-game winning streak, too. :D

Good for you! It's hard though when Amazon keeps having so many good sales.

THANK YOU!

It seems I am behind with my words, despite writing nearly every day. And I know why. I doubled my previous daily goal and took into account that 1 would only be writing 28 days and not all 31 days.

I need to up my number of daily words like I planned and I should make up for being behind.

Had a great weekend so am at 18,838 words.
Now I will feel a *little* less guilty if I don't get words in during the week...though with only a couple of chapters left in the draft I'm antsy to get back to it!

I am giggling at your flash challenge, knowing where you got that from. And I made you this! :D

And I am at more than double my word goal, so I am feeling FANTASTIC on that score.

Love your idea of monthly goals too! Excellent idea!

It's probably good you cleaned bupkis, 'cause bupkis can get messy pretty fast. (ha, I know. Stupid. Sorry... not sorry).

I am not up to speed on my goal for the month, but tomorrow is my daily challenge day and I'm optimistic about making progress then. I want to write more than knit this month; I feel like I need to get that bit of creativity more on track than it's been in a long time. The words need out, and I miss my OTPs.

Congrats on the progress on your blanket!

We should totally do 7 million!

I've resolved to do a few things this year- reading (actually finishing a book a month is on there), writing (daily preferred, but if I can improve on what I did last year, I'll be happy), health (exercise & generally taking care of myself). I do like your monthly writing goal, but I'm such a procrastinator, I could see myself frantically typing on the last day every month to reach my goal.

I am intrigued by the flash challenge. It's just a question of what to write about.

I'm at 2104 words, so I'm ahead of schedule, but I wouldn't mind keeping that pace for the rest of the month.

My WIP is about 100 words heavier than when I left it. It's not going to be a particularly long piece, but I wouldn't mind it being a particularly finished piece soon.

YAY for all the accomplishment!

And I like the list!!!

I'm liking the month, cause even if I scramble for the end of month, I'm not spending the end of year scrambling bigger!

The Hiding Place - 300 words
(Stopped & started this a couple of times and then settled on this)

It would be a while before Mommy found my hiding place. I don’t know if she remembered we were playing hide and seek. I was hiding in the big closet in her and Daddy’s room. It was always very warm and cozy in there and some of Mommy’s dresses were soft. Today, I checked out Daddy’s winter coat. It was all the way in the back of the closet where it would stay until it got cold out. It was a little scratchy to the touch, but the pockets felt nice. There were a pair of gloves in one. I tried them on. Daddy has big hands so his gloves didn’t fit me at all. I dropped them on the floor and kept exploring. In the pocket where the gloves were was a folded up piece of paper, I unfolded it and saw a picture that I had drawn for Daddy when I was three years old. I draw much better now. I reached into the other pocket. There was more paper in there. I wondered if there were more pictures so I took it out. It looked a little like money but it didn’t have a picture on it like any of the money that Mommy had given me when we went shopping.

A bright light shone in as Mommy opened the closet door all of the way. She saw me on the floor, holding the bills in my hand. She said some words that were not nice and held out her hand for me to give her the money. I didn’t think that was very fair because I found it, but she was really mad.

I hope I didn’t get Daddy in too much trouble. If I did, I’ll have to show him a good place to hide
