It's Monday Again!

So, we meet again, Monday.  How has December been treating you all?  It’s been very mild weather-wise here in the desert southwest, which I am forever grateful for because I hate being cold.

1. Flash Challenge!  Your flash challenge prompt is: mistletoe.  Give me 100 words or a graphic and I’ll reward you with my undying love and admiration.

2. Last week’s challenges:

3. Big Buddy 32%!  How are you doing?  I’m straggling a bit so far this month, but I can get caught up.

agdhani – 16,000
asphaltcowgrrl – 6,400
simplyn2deep –  1,280
sharpiesgal – 1,920
cmk418 – 1,600
flipflop_diva – 3,200
katleept – 14,400

Signups for December are here!  Come join us, it’s fun!  The Daily Count challenge is here if you want to see when you’re up next.  (P. S. Let me know if I goofed on big buddy… my brain isn’t quite functioning at the moment.)

4. December’s challenge is Advent!  You can check out all the amazing artwork being posted at the tag, here.

Man, I still can’t believe we’re nearing the end of the year.  So much has happened in 2018, both personally and otherwise, that I’m both happy and sad to see 2019 on the horizon.  Let us know how you plan to be awesome this week so we can celebrate and encourage together!

This month has been jam-packed and this upcoming week should be worse than most- meeting on Monday, choir rehearsals Tuesday & Thursday, hockey game Friday, and choir concert Saturday & Sunday. Factor in some time for Christmas shopping in the midst of that and work all five days this week and I won't know if I'm coming or going. Good times.

I'm about halfway writing-wise where I need to be right now, but I expect that to pick up after the 17th (but maybe after a night of going to bed at 8pm).

Your flash challenge has that Justin Bieber song going through my head right now. It's a good thing that I like it and right now a more pleasant earworm than choir music.

I hear you about the weather. I feel like I've completely missed fall this year. Maybe we'll catch a break soon.

Happy writing!

I hear ya, December is always crazy here, too. On the bright side, we're a third of the way through the month already. :D

Awesome! Good luck getting caught up. I need to do the same, I fear.

Hahahaha... my older girl (she's 18 now) was SUCH a Justin fan when she was younger so I'm well acquainted with the song you mentioned. He had such a baby voice on that Christmas album, too.

We don't ever get a fall, not like the rest of the country does, so I don't miss it much. But when you're used to one, I can see why you'd miss it.

Right back atcha!

A tiny bit ahead of the game...but work has been uncooperative and the muses have been straining since the end of NaNo.
But at least I'm not behind.
I need to kick them in the butt cause I want to finish this draft, dang it!

Awesome that you're a little ahead! Ugh on work - I know how that goes, especially with it nearing not just quarter end, but year end, too.

Good luck with the draft! You've got this.

Happy Monday....

15 days and Christmas will be over for another year. Yay....

Not too far off on word count thanks to our boys. ;)

I know you're looking forward to that! Christmas time in retail makes you rethink all of your life choices. I've been there.

Awesome! I'm at like half of what I need, but I'll get there. :D

It's almost year end!!! DAMMIT!!!! There is still so much to do!!!!

Happy monday to you!

I'm telling you. I'm mostly ready - the kids are pretty much done and they're what counts but yikes. Where has the time gone?

Right back atcha!

I have gotten one holiday gift ordered- and it's for the work Secret Santa swap. Sigh. This might be the year my family all get gift cards - they might have to do their own shopping!

Dec. 10th, 2018 06:27 pm (UTC)
Honestly? No shame in that. I made sure my kids were taken care of and that's as far as it has gone. My niece and nephews get cash because they're all 18 and older at this point. :)

And I am mostly done with Christmas shopping - just my mum and the family exchange to go (the theme is a hard one, so I'm having trouble. Mum, I'll figure out; she's not really so hard) - but decorations are not up or anything! I have, however, set my children loose on the Christmas lights and tree this year as they have nothing else to do this week, so we'll see if that was a good decision or not without supervision!!!

Wordswise, I got nothing, but I am on track with Advent, so tomorrow night I have icons to make, and if that gets done, it's all good!

I've got a bunch of old school friends coming to potluck dinner on Saturday night while the family is away for the weekend (while the cat's away...) so although I don't have to worry too much about food, I will have to clean the house on Saturday, and take the dog on a LONG walk so he'll be too exhausted to bother everyone! Wish me luck!

And the weather's warming up here, which is what I actually love about Christmas in this part of the world, oddly enough! ;-)

Awesome! I still need things for my parents and in-laws, but they're generally pretty easy, too. Hah - my older girl has randomly put the tree up herself for the last couple years. She won't wait for us. Hopefully the kids do a good job!

Nice on the Advent front - creating is creating, right?

Oh, that sounds like a lot of fun. Enjoy yourself!

I know what you mean - a lot of people look forward to snow this time of year (WHY???) and yet, it's still in the high 60's here, so not very winter-like weather for most people. Enjoy the warm weather. :)

Ha! They do like to have things to work on, I think, and it helps make Christmas more 'real', especially if your parents are a bit slow. I have every faith in N2D, although LF may not like her bossing him around...

YES! And I am all set to go, as long as I can remember which fandom I'm creating for... I think it's Ben Barnes Narnia, so that should have plenty of possibilities!

It will be, although I am just now thinking that we will probably have too much food as there are only 7 of us and if everyone brings a complete meal-size portion for that many people... oh well! Leftovers all around!

I've done the winter Christmas thing a few times and while it does have it's charm, I really love that in NZ we're heading into summer and so we're all winding down for that at the same time as doing the whole Christmas rush thing! crazy, but true! And there's nothing like having annual leave just after Christmas and relaxing in the sun after all that full-on stuff. Plus you don't have to wrap up warm to shop or visit. I hope your weather stays mild for the season too! ;-)
Dec. 10th, 2018 08:41 pm (UTC)
Hah - that sounds like a pretty typical day in the life though. :)

Oh nice! And yes, that ought to give you a ton of possibilities.

ROFL - leftovers are the best part of a potluck. But always better to have too much than not enough, I say.

I honestly think that if it were summer here, that the Christmas rush wouldn't be so crazy. Summer imparts a more relaxed atmosphere than winter. At least, for me anyway. It won't get *cold* here until January or so, but even then, it doesn't get as cold as say, K, will experience. We have maybe one or two freeze warnings all winter and rarely actually get to freezing temps.
