Guess What Today Is?

Happy Monday!  I know you were expecting Kaige, but she’s recuperating from her vacation.  Which means you’re stuck with me.  Again.    It’s starting to cool off here in the desert, which is nice in the sense that it doesn’t get bitterly cold here.   I’m a wimp, however, and get cold once we dip below 70º.

1. Flash Challenge!  Your flash challenge prompt is: video games.  Give me 100 words or a graphic and I’ll reward you with my undying love and admiration.

2. Last week’s challenges:

SibilateWeekend Challenge: Four SeasonsPolychromaticSay What Friday
Coupe de Foudre272PreambleDandleOPsittacine

3. Big Buddy 48%!  How are you doing?  I’m sitting at almost 2k more than I need at the moment.  SCORE!

If you still want to, you can sign up for October here!  Come join us, it’s fun!  The Daily Count challenge is here if you want to check on when you’re up next.

4. October’s challenge is looking to be interesting – Original fiction!  Come on out and give it a try, even if you don’t normally write original work.  It can be fun, trust me.  You can find all the prompts to date at the tag here.

So far, hockey season is not off to a good start.  *sigh*  But it’s all good – it’s only their second season, we cannot expect miracles (no matter how much we want them).  So, what are your plans for making this week awesome?  Chime in and let us know!

I'm feeling ya on that last one, and my team's been around for 51 seasons so there's absolutely no excuse for that nonsense I'm seeing now. (I might be a little bit bitter.) I've learned from previous years and have quite a few backup teams to root for. Psst, there's room on the Devils bandwagon.

Writing-wise, I've written but nothing's complete yet and I'm feeling guilty because I haven't even fulfilled prompts that I've posted for my OZ community. I have made some progress on NaNo prep and the characters are throwing out ideas so I'm enjoying that part of the process.

I'm reading a book for a book group I'm involved with called "The Light of the Fireflies". It's funny because no one in the group likes it so we've agreed to power through it and what would have been a 10-week exploration is now going to be done in 3. The characters in this book make the Lannisters from Game of Thrones look like nice, functional people.

LOL, getting cold at 70, because before I moved to LA from Chicago, I thought people in LA were crazy for getting cold when it got down to 60 degrees, but then I lived there for a while and it did happen. And it spoiled me for my return to St Louis. I think I've gotten more tolerant of the cold now after almost 10 years, but it's still not where it was.

Have a great week full of creativity and watchable hockey!

yay for another NaNo'er!

I know that this is another sport but... as a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan, I feel your pain. That said, since I'm an Illinois native, I'll always be a Blackhawks fan, too.

Hey, as long as you're writing and creating, it's all good.

OMG, that's hysterical that you're all hating the book. And holy moly... if they make anyone in GOT look functional, they have got to be awful.

I moved from Illinois to Nevada when I was 4, so I honestly don't remember ever living in cold weather (especially since the only other places I've lived since then were Phoenix and a suburb of Houston). But yeah, you get used to being warm really fast. :)

Thanks! Right back atcha, too!

did a ton of editing to finish the pass through another project (only like the second edit, however, so there's still more to be done...and I was going off to sleep I thought of somethings I should tackle in it, lol)
also spent about 4 hours creating a city map...which isn't done but at least the bare outline is nearly ready.
Its put me nearly to 50k/50hrs already which is good because I know there will be some days without or with very little coming up.
anyhow...turns out my class is canceled (due to lack of a teacher) so that's one less draw on my time in November.
and with Daredevil coming back this weekend, that will suck 10 or so hours away that I could be writing...but better in October then in November lol!
and I still have power...when it was shut off for many places in my county due to a lot of wind and fire hazard, Not sure about the office, or what this will do for the work day...but we'll see as the day gets rolling.

Sounds like you've been productive! And I hope that you keep your power and are out of the way of the fire!

I think I have about five different fics in progress right now, lol. Hopefully one of them will cooperate and I can actually post something this month. I'm still hopeful for words in October. I also need to get on rewards for Sept bingo, and finish some knitting gifts for my niece. That's pretty much my week ahead on the creative front.

I offered to do NaNo posts for November - but I'm not NaNo expert. Would anyone want to post along with me, and/or suggest a few topics here that I can approach? I'll be fine if not, but ideas are most welcome.

That's my usual state, so I feel ya. Here's to getting one of them finished! Good luck with your rewards and the knitting. I sometimes feel like I'm the only person I know who doesn't knit. :)

I'm not either, but I'm sure someone will step in and offer to help out.

Most of my words are coming from the round robin, which has taken on a life of its own. ;)

Maybe sometime this week I'll get a chance to catch up between doing adult stuff.

Words are words, right? And yeah, that kind of happens when you're dealing with those three. :D

Good luck with that - adult stuff seems to suck the life out of us. :)

And now, I'm between projects and have no idea what to work on.

How about playing with Ethan and Travis?
Oct. 15th, 2018 06:48 pm (UTC)
It took some digging, but I found three prompts (two of which go together in a way) that will work for these two. :)

I need to update my prompts post so I don't have to keep searching for things.

OMG! Got home from my holiday with K yesterday (Tues) morning at 8am and it's now Wed 2pm, and I'm still tired. Jet lag is a bitch, but I am SO glad we did the trip, and that we got to meet you!

Thank you again for stashing my coffee and Lego (which all got home safely!). It really helped!

Today I have done 4 loads of washing and hung it all out, and that's it. For the rest of this week, as I'm not working, I intend to sort out some photos to print and put up on the wall, as well as put some on LJ (FB already done), and then... maybe, just maybe, I might even manage some writing!!!

Oct. 17th, 2018 09:40 pm (UTC)
I can't even imagine how bad the jet lag is. Daylight Savings Time is enough to mess with me and that's only an hour.

You're so welcome! You (and your son) are lucky my husband never found out the Lego arrived or that would have been a fight to keep away from him!

Ugh, the laundry has to be insane, I'm sure. Enjoy your time off recuperating from your vacation!
