Weekend Challenge: Music of Animation

Throughout time, music has inspired writers, artists, creators. So, this weekend, the Challenge is Music of Animation.

You can choose 1-20 from Set A Non-Disney Animated Movies or 1-20 of Set B for Disney Movies. Where there are several songs in each film that are wonderful, I have only chosen 1 (lyrical) song per animation.

On Saturday Night, I will post the entire list in the comments, just because.

roleplay bit spawned by Rio, Worry, and events at work today:

“Maybe just running away to Rio is an option,” suggested Kitten over the lip of her wine glass to the men seated across from her. The deli was closed for the night and she, Vitaly, and Bobby sat in the back office, the men with their feet propped up on the desk as the shared their second bottle of beer, and she with her feet tucked demurely around the legs of the wooden desk chair.

“For you, maybe,” grunted Vitaly, “but some of us have to work here…”

“Certainly not an option for her anymore,” Bobby agreed, a note of disappointment in his voice.

Vitaly took another drink. “Not at the rate she’s burning bridges,” he agreed. “Who in the hell thinks like that? It was a staff meeting for chrissake…not the end of the world…you don’t demand to have your mother present unless you’re twelve.”

“Well she knew what was coming…I mean…how often was she asked to do things that never got done?” sighed Bobby.

“She’s got kids to feed…”

But Vitaly held his ground, firm in his decision, and gave Kitten a scathing look. “If she needed help, all she had to do was ask…and do her damn job…”

“And not talk about us behind our backs.”

They were all human. Not one of them was perfect. Bobby’s bi-sexuality had never been a secret, and while Kitten never broadcast the discrepancy between her physical gender and her mentally biological one, even that was no secret to anyone who cared to find out. Morlov’s Deli had been successfully in business for many years. Every business had its detractors, disgruntled customers who were never pleased, but for an employee to talk crap about the owners, the deli, and other employees while refusing to do tasks asked of them or only doing them half-assed when it suited her, all while bucking for a raise, was craziness. There had been tiny warning signs for awhile, but the issues had finally come to a head when the duplicity had come to Vitaly’s attention after a previous meeting meant to give the poor girl a chance to straighten up her act.

Her refusal to attend a staff meeting today, without having her mother present, had been the last straw. It was only afterwards that Kitten and the other deli employees on the roster today revealed to Vitaly how misguided his efforts to give the young lady the benefit of the doubt really were. She was suspended without pay until further notice.

He did not want her small children to end up on the street but he simply could not defend keeping her on staff, and after a long closed-door meeting with Bobby, the deli’s co-owner, the decision had been made to let her go. Bringing her back simply wasn’t an option.

“You think I need to call up extra security?” Bobby asked.

Vitaly shook his head as he popped open the third bottle of beer. “Nah…she turned in her key, right? You changed the codes?”

“She did…and I did,” replied Kitten. Kitten had no stake in the deli as an owner, but she worked as manager during the hours Vitaly or Bobby could not be here. She and Vitaly went way back to his arrival in Havensport. There were few people he knew better.

“Then we’ve nothing to worry about. If we get some word off the streets that there’s going to be trouble…”

“We don’t need anything legal…”

“I’ll talk to Lindsey and Matthew in the morning. See what they say. We’ve got everything in writing now…or we will have…it’s all good. Why should we worry?”

Besides, he thought with a touch of vindictive bitterness, even as the heads of the two with him bobbed, if there was going to be trouble, Tigh Ard was filled with a variety of people well-versed in the art of making trouble go away. One way or another.

“It’s stupid,” Kitten muttered again. “Just plain stupid.”

Vitally nodded grimly. “I couldn’t agree with you more.”
