Say What Friday

Greetings all!

We survived yet another week. Yay us!!

Today is the last day of the month, so let's finished it with a bang.

To that end, I give you this week's quote for inspiration.

"A sense of humor is the pole that adds balance to our steps as we walk the tightrope of life."

Do with it what you will.

Remember to update your numbers because H will be counting tomorrow.

To those of us who have a holiday weekend, enjoy it to the max.

an excerpt inspired by the tightrope of humor ;)

“Lighten up, Ross. Where’s your sense of humor tonight? We don’t want to spoil the evening’s tightrope for our guests now, do we?” chuckled Verrine between sips of bourbon. The sour taste, bolstered by the fizz of product Franclee saved just for him, burned a pleasant path into his belly. He was thankful that, unlike it did for the clientele they served, alcohol did not inhibit his functions or cloud his judgement.
Remaining clearheaded was how Verrine had survived, and succeeded, for so long.
“Something’s coming. I feel it.” Ross pushed his empty glass back across the bar with a murmured, “Thanks Fran,” as he got to his feet with a graceful, feline-like stretch. “You feel it too, Ig. I know you do.”
He did not wait for Verrine to confirm or deny the statement before weaving his way to his sister’s side. He did not even need to look at the short man to know the truth.
And Verrine did not deign to formulate a reply.
Everyone of their kind throughout the Kitchen knew something had come for them.
Threats had come before. They always came. Verrine never paid them heed. He was not afraid.
But not knowing the nature of this one…this thing that made his skin crawl like maggots trying to eat free…this he was afraid of.
Even if he could never show that fear to anyone.
He wondered, as he finished his drink, if Lucky felt it too.
