The fire still rages in the north end of the county, chugging through the national forest, now threatening a resort up at Lake Pillsbury I've heard. I can still smell smoke outside, although the sky is clearer then it has been (its actually blue now)

Its still early in the day, but as I've gotten in 2770 words thus far (including time spent updating my author site with the newest book release info) I want to pass the buck onto the next victim before I forget to.

simplyn2deep you're up...and I'm off to see if I can't reach the 30k mark for the day.

I'm sorry that the fires are still out of control, but I'm happy they seem to be moving away from you. Good luck hitting that 30k mark!

I think its up to like 62% containment now. every time the wind kicks up, more acres are lost. Its less stressful now, but I'll be a lot happier when its totally out.

up to 29k now...1 more to go for the day :)

I'm happy to hear it's mostly contained, but I agree. You can't rest until it's all out.

I just have to comment...be safe. I'm in Reno, and we have a lot of the smoke over here from those fires.

I bet! winds are blowing it all east...even as far as NY I've read...plus you pick up all the smoke from any fires between us and you!
Glad our work crews had masks handy. I don't dare go out without it.

Not to intrude, but howdy from down south of you. Even here in Clark County we get some of the smoke and gunk in the air from the fires. It has to be worse for you guys up north.

I'd make all the smoke go away if I could...put out all the fires before they start

It really, really pisses me off that of course, humans are to blame ( some intentionally setting fires) for most of them.
Aug. 13th, 2018 05:46 pm (UTC)
Amen to that.

Hey there :) down south!!

Yeah it's pretty bad. I can't see the mountains at all, and the sun is sort of filtered red through the smoke. I don't like going outdoors much in this weather either. But the wind kicked up today and some of the smoke seems to be dissipating :)

Are you in Henderson? Cousin of mine lives there and two good friends in Vegas.
Aug. 13th, 2018 05:45 pm (UTC)
It's about the only time I can say that. :D

I can't even imagine. As bad as it gets for us, it has to be ten times worse for you and those actually in CA.

Hah - actually I am. All of the rest of my family is in Las Vegas proper. We're rebels (not). :)

Cool :)) I'm hoping to make it down there soon.

Awesome! Enjoy your trip if/when you do! Lots of interesting things in this town that have nothing to do with a casino. :D

Oh boy! Stay safe. I'm pretty much surrounded by fires as well - some north of me and some southeast of me. Its crazy and I can't deal with the smoke/haze.

Tomorrow I will tackle my 5-10 graphics.

All these fires have given me ptsd and I hate it.
I hope you stay safe there too!
Aug. 13th, 2018 02:08 am (UTC)
We're far enough away that we only have to worry about the haze and sometimes ash.
Aug. 13th, 2018 01:44 am (UTC)
This is weird how this conversation veered off into the fires :P but out of curiosity, where are you located?
Aug. 13th, 2018 02:19 am (UTC)
I'm in Southern California. There's like 8 fires still going on (according to wiki which probably isn't the best source to use)
Aug. 14th, 2018 01:09 am (UTC)
well stay safe!! Some years ago I remember the terrible San Diego fires, and when flying to visit a friend there, the sky was black with smoke.
