It's Monday Again!

Happy Monday everyone!  A new start to a new week – one we’re going to knock the socks off of, right?  Hopefully you had a productive week last week and are ready to carry it forward into this week, too.

1. Flash Challenge!  Your flash challenge prompt is: reptile.  Give me 100 words or a graphic and I’ll reward you with my undying love and admiration.  Bearded dragons are a bonus.  Just sayin’.

2. Last week’s challenges:

Weekend Challenge: Communication CountsBenedict

3. Big Buddy 52%!  How are you doing?  It’s the beginning of the month, let’s make this a good one!

sharpiesgal – 1,040
agdhani – 26,000
cmk418 – 2,600
katleept – 16,120
captainamergirl – 2,080

If you still want to, you can sign up for July here!  Additional note: You can sign up for the Daily Count Challenge here as well.

4. Our July challenge is the ever popular Pool Party!  Go check the tag for fandom suggestions for every letter.  Plus, Kaige is now posting trope prompts to help inspire you.  The first ones are here and here.

5. Calls for NaNoCamp are out as well and you can find it here.

6. August Rush is nearly upon us and hiddlepinebatch is looking for fandom suggestions.  You can find that post here.

I have high hopes for this week.  I didn’t get much writing done at all, but I’m still only about 1k words off where I should be, so I can deal with that.  More impressed by the fact I pulled out a WIP I haven’t touched in five years and rewrote the first chapter.  Chapter two should get its turn this week, I hope.  What’s on your plate?  How do you plan to be awesome?  Let us know so we can support you along the way.

Right now, I'm at 1551 for July but I have about ten different prompts that I can write on to work down the deficit so I'm still feeling good about things.

Last week, work was a bear and I was Leo DiCaprio in "The Revenant". Not a good time. I expect more fun in the next few days.

Also last week, I had asked about a LJ community that I'd written my first fanfic for over a decade ago that seemed to have been a bit forgotten in recent months. I was thrilled to be asked to moderate it. So I spent a lot of the weekend writing prompts to be used over the next few months.

Resurrecting an old WIP sounds awesome. Good luck with it.

I'll have to look through my stash of pics that I took at Reptile Gardens in South Dakota and see if I can make some icons from them.

You're not too far off, so that's good! Good luck with the prompts.

Ugh, I feel you on work. Hope that it settles down for you soon.

Oh, that's cool! Congrats on getting to mod and bring it a little life again.

Thanks - it's been fun so far. But man, did my writing bite back then. Haha. I'm praying I've improved. :D

That would be amazing. My daughter has a bearded dragon named Sampson and he really is the sweetest thing.

I have good intentions this week to get some fic written. I have plenty of prompts stashed, so maybe the wandering evil plot bunny will like one and give me a fic or three.

Happy you are doing so well, and I can't wait for the second chapter of your old WIP.

Good luck! I hope that the bun cooperates with you.

Thanks - and I'm hoping to get through chapter 2 today. Wish me luck. :D

I'm up to 39k.
Gonna be gone a few days next week, without a computer handy, so I'm hoping to hit the 50k/50hr mark this weekend. Totally doable if I get at least 2 hrs in a day.
The 'bad' part is I'm about 80 pages from the end...and even with running all the checkers again, I'm not sure I can stretch all of that into the number of hours needed ;)

This particular story involves an MC, a student archeologist, who has been wheelchair-bound his entire life. If anyone knows someone who could assess my treatment of him...to be sure I'm not overlooking something or being inaccurate or unfair in my writing of him, I'd appreciate their input. I've worked really hard to treat him respectfully and realistically, but it would be good to know my efforts are going in the right direction.

Now...sadly I must work.

Score! That's a lot of words. And I know you can hit your goal, good luck!

That's amazing though that you're so close to the end! But I have faith you can find somewhere to fit those other words/hours.

Unfortunately, I don't know anyone, but I'm sure someone here can help you.

Ugh, you and me both. I've been putting it off. :D

I finally had a bit success last week - posted two, count them, two fics! First since February, and hopefully a sign that writer's block is preparing to pack its bags and move out. I hope so. I'm working on images for June bingo rewards, so that's my priority for early this week. Then I'm going to decide what to focus on for the last two weeks of July - have a couple of ideas knocking around, will have to see what inspires.

Hope you're feeling better! Not fun feeling sick. :\

WONDERFUL! I'm so happy for you. Here's hoping that it continues for you. Good luck with those ideas!

Aw, thank you. Monsoon season has hit and we've been having some really hot and humid days - something that I'm not used to. The humidity has an awful effect on me. Is it September yet? Hah.
