Another Awesome Monday!

awesome Monday.jpg

Oh my gosh - I completely spaced out when it was my last turn to talk on Monday, so I am determined not to let this one pass, even though I am about to leave the house with the family to go see 'Isle of Dogs'! I have about ten mins to prep this, then I will post it when we get home.

I am so looking forward to this movie - I love what I've seen so far of Wes Anderson's movies, particularly 'Fantastic Mr Fox' and as this is another stop-motion film in a similar vein, I have great expectations of it! Will let you know what I thought!

How is your Monday going? Any plans for the week's awesomeness yet? My own mostly centre around logistics for a trip later in the year, and while I know I am sadly lacking on the whole words front (even the WIP Push didn't get me writing, I'm sorry to say), I'm not sure that words will flow this week either, but I am aiming to make some icons if nothing else!

Here are the reminders and other things you need to help kick you off for the week:

1 – FLASH CHALLENGE – Your amazing Monday prompt is - "seeking something or someone lost" Give me 100 words or a graphic for the fabulous sake of saying you’ve done it!

2 – Reminder of last week’s challenges:
Resilient - Circumferential - May Challenge - Rare Pairs (and check the tags for the daily prompts thereafter!)
67 - WWoW - Busticate - N - 29 - Paseo - O - Behindhand - WC - Road Trip! - 298 - Phraseology - Truckle - P

And 3 – Big Buddy 23% - Are you all on schedule?
sharpiesgal - 230
cmk418 - 920
agdhani - 6,900
candream - 1,150
katleept - 7,130
flipflop_diva - 2,300
thatwasjustadream.dreamwidth.org – 2,300

[Edit: 'Isle of Dogs' was great! I thoroughly enjoyed it, and had some really good laughs, plus it made me think. Go see it!]

Let's be careful out there, everyone, and let's make words!

sitting just over 18k...so I'm good on the count. that's a good thing, since my class project is due this week and then I'll be neck-deep in studying for finals.

I've got another book nearly ready for publishing...if I can find someone to check the little French bits sprinkled throughout. A friend started writing this story with me, then she passed away before it was completed; she wrote most of the French and German bits but since I speak neither language, I can only use Google translate to verify it lol. My German friend took care of the German for me though, so that's good.

I'm sorry about your friend, but I'm happy to hear you decided to carry on with the project. Sadly, I don't speak any useful languages (according to my boss anyway), so French is out. :(

I've tinkered with it on and off in the years since she died, but am glad to be finally finishing it. As it started with both of us writing different characters and section, it has taken work to smooth out the language, the continuity, and cohesiveness, but I think she'd be happy with the end product :)

Had to have been an emotional project to take on, but has to feel good to have it done as well. :)

That's a great count!

YAY for nearly at publishing on another book! I hope you can find someone for the French. Your friend would be proud of you for getting it finished!

I finished a pair of socks Sunday! That's my best piece of awesomeness- it's the first pair of socks I've made that came out looking less like booties/slippers and more like socks. :). I think I'm finally getting tensioning down, and I was happy with most of the stitches. Neither sock has any 'weak' areas or rails. Next, I have to finish the doggie blanket I've started for my niece

Re: written words, I keep inching closer to finishing a fic I'm working on. It's been work all the way, even though it's hardly complicated. My brain's just fighting me, but I'm getting there, and at least I'm really pretty happy with what I've got so far. It's longer than I expected it to go - will be close to 6k probably. :|

After this, it's prepping for June bingo and maybe some ficlets to try to accomplish something short form for once.

I seem to be hooked on making socks!!! IDK why - they're tricky and fussy, and so of course I would want to make more of them, lol.

I so completely get the yarn addiction thing now, too. All the pretty colors and patterns and sparkles and textures.... eeeeeeeeeee!
May. 7th, 2018 07:25 pm (UTC)
YAY for yarn! I'm sorry for the addiction, but excited as well.

Some people love socks. I'm glad you found it!

I think about you a lot these days - just up the road from us is a little mom and pop place we like to grab food at. Right next door is a used bookstore. About two buildings up is a yarn shop by an ice cream place. Food, dessert, and entertainment within walking distance of each other.

Sounds like an amazing place to spend a day!
May. 7th, 2018 08:21 pm (UTC)
It is. :) And the owner of the bookshop is odd, but charming. :)

Nice socks! I either need to learn how to knit or find someone to make some for me. Hahaha. My feet are always cold. :/

Good luck with the words! I have a story that is almost finished and I know where I'm going, but my motivation has fled. :( YOU CAN DO THIS! I HAVE FAITH!
May. 8th, 2018 03:59 am (UTC)
Thank you! They did come out nicely - finally. I made some really floofy messes before these. Once I make it through my list of gifties for my family, I can make you some socks, lol. They will all be sick to death of getting knitted things from me long before I'm sick of making things- I can pretty much predict that now. Ha. :)

Good luck with your fic. I know the feeling - but the motivation will return, I'm sure!
May. 8th, 2018 05:59 pm (UTC)
I like the idea of a floofy mess - sounds sorta like my cat. :) Aw, that's sweet of you. :D Take care of the family first (and how could they ever get sick of homemade gifts like that?).

Thanks! It'll get done - just have to get through the stress of the last few weeks of school and graduation and - heaven help me - sending my kid to college! (Thankfully she's going locally)
May. 8th, 2018 03:19 am (UTC)
The socks look fantastic!

You can do it, with the fic - well done you for sticking with it!

And yay for June Bingo and ficlets!!! ;-)
May. 8th, 2018 04:03 am (UTC)
Thank you! I like the texture of this yarn - it's soft, but it's true, skinny sock weight yarn and so they took a whole month to make! Now i'm making a pair with worsted and it's gonna take about three nights. Funny what a difference.

The fic might take about three more nights, too, but thanks - I do look forward to posting something again.

Happy to hear you liked the movie! I started watching LBJ this morning about former president Lyndon Johnson. I love Woody Harrelson and think he's great in this role but holy mother of madness, why is Jeffrey Donovan playing JFK? I love the boy but... nah.

Just realized I never signed up for the May Big Buddy. *sigh* Probably for the best - I have a lot going on this month. Starting with my hubby's birthday in two days (that I forgot about).
May. 8th, 2018 03:22 am (UTC)
It was such a great little film, but then we love Wes Anderson at our house, so how not? I don't know Jeffrey Donovan nor what LBJ should be like, so I'll take your word for it, but I do agree that Woody Harrelson is awesome!

Oh well, there's always June, and YES, your hubby's b'day is something you should not forget!!! Have fun for it! ;-)
May. 8th, 2018 05:33 pm (UTC)
Have you ever seen a show called Burn Notice? It might not have made its way over to your side of the planet though. He's a great actor, but he does not have the look for JFK. Woody, however, looks a lot like what I remember LBJ looking in my history books. :D

He certainly thinks so anyway. God help me on those years when Mother's Day falls on his birthday. Hahaha. Thanks!
May. 15th, 2018 12:47 am (UTC)
I've heard of it, but not really watched it. Not being up on American history, I guess anyone would be right from my perspective, but I guess when you learn it at school, you have more idea!

Oh, I know what you mean - my BIL's was on Mother's Day this year, and I'm sure my sister had to pay attention to that (not that she has human children, but I'm sure she'd like to be acknowledged for her parenting to the assorted cats, dogs, chickens and ducks). ;-)
May. 16th, 2018 08:01 pm (UTC)
It's sad because I don't know a whole lot about US history after WWII because our history classes pretty much gloss over it all, with a pit stop on JFK's presidency. I need to educate myself, I think.

Hahaha - boys. They can't let someone else be in the spotlight, can they? :D
May. 8th, 2018 11:42 am (UTC)
I managed about 200 words. Have a lot of catching up to do.
May. 15th, 2018 12:48 am (UTC)
200 words more than I've managed, so you're ahead of me! But I understand; you set a goal, you want to stick to it! Good luck with catching up!
May. 16th, 2018 09:52 pm (UTC)
Labyrinth, Toby + Sarah + implied Jareth/Sarah, At Last, 932 words, PG/K+

It kinda veered from the original challenge, sorry/not sorry. :)

It is all words, so being sorry isn't necessary... even if you aren't really! :D
