Weekend Challenge: Superstitious

So I had other plans for our Weekend Challenge this week up until I realized what today's date is . . .

How can I possibly pass up such an important date??

So pick a number, 1 - 70, or more, and I'll give you the corresponding superstition in hopes of inspiring you to create a fanwork of your choosing that somehow relates to that old superstition!

Our "weekend" challenges now close at midnight on Thursday night, so you'll have our week to (hopefully) be inspired!

Rewards I'm offering? Black cat banners, icons, sig tags, and drabbles/ficlets! For the fandoms/pairings I can write, just dig through my tags, but I should be able to make an icon or sig tag for you of just about anything your heart desires!

Happy creating!

got 'em both in...better late than never...

Still playing in Legion's sandbox...in David Haller's head...no spoilers or warnings necessary:

“Hey…”

There were still in a graveyard when she dared to crack open her lids after the thundering of her heart had slowed and her breathing came easy once again. Instead of that darkness that had housed something blacker than night, or the firefly bespeckled crimson that had followed, the damp, clean air shimmered with the pink of long-limbed cherry blossoms, the emerald of perfectly manicured lawn and hedges, and well-kept white marbled stones that extended down both sides of the wet path glistening with after shower dew. No names, no indicator of who was buried here, but with the sound of his voice, welcoming though slightly unsure and embarrassed, erased the need to know. Everything else faded away as it was absorbed by the blue of his eyes.

He smiled, a crooked, boyish smile, when she looked at him, looked as if he was about to make an apology of some sort, but instead he murmured, “Hold on…” His fingers pecked gently at her cheekbone and then turned slightly to reveal the treasure he had recovered. “Make a wish.”

Something vague and without words formed in her mind, unnamed and voiceless, before she blew the lash from his finger tip. The puff of air resulted in a shower of rosy petals from the trees around them. Both looked up in wonder, watching the floral leaves falls, his expression one of wonder as if he had not expected that result. He lifted one feather pink kiss from her shoulder and offered it to her.

“Did you know, in Russia, it’s considered good luck if a bird craps on you…?” His cheeks flushed with a hint of embarrassment. Smooth, David, he thought to himself. Just what every girl wants to know…

He wondered what she had wished for.

“Maybe it’s just Russian birds?” she countered.

His smile widened with relief that she had taken no offense with his awkward opening.

Okay. I've so totally got to see Legion now! I've been contemplating it, but I'm a pretty strict X-Men comics fan. (I HATED the movies.) After this? Yeah, gotta try it!!

Fabulous job!! What would you like for your reward?

(And sorry I'm late -- sickness and RL don't always mix well with OL.)

Legion is so unlike any of the marvel films...or anything else for that matter. being a little familiar with the XMen universe helps you catch some things, but you don't need to know it to go on this particular ride ;)

And just HOW did I manage to not offer you a prize for this? Ask, and ye shall receive -- to the best of my abilities, at least!
