Daily Count Challenge to . . . CanDream!

Between our water cutting out early Monday morning and doctor appointments, my weekend (Tuesday and Wednesday) has been completely buggered. It looks like the best I'm going to be able to get out is 1500, which I did get yesterday but had delayed in posting because I'd hoped to be able to get some more words in early this morning -- and it's just not happening. :( Better luck today, candream!

And on another note, how do you guys feel about dropping out of challenges? I've got a challenge that's buggering me. The fic is pretty much written, but I feel like it needs a little doctoring and it has to be betaed, or at least self-betaed, before posting. I really think the idea of having to look at that process again is part of what's hindering my inspiration, and it also doesn't help that the main character has something wrong with her with which I just had a brush myself and I don't really want to think about that sort of thing right now. I feel like I'd be able to better write if I didn't have that hung around my neck, but I also feel guilty when I think about giving in and dropping out of the challenge.

Is it something a trusted beta could help with? Because, depending when the deadline is, maybe one of your regular beta-readers would be able to help by reading it through as it stands to see if it needs as much work as you think?

Or, if it really is too much, as long as you won't feel worse about dropping out, maybe that is the best option.

I like cmk418's idea too - try writing something else if there's time, and come back to the other one later (or not at all if that's how you keep feeling).

*hugs* And we're here to support you no matter what choice you make!

Hum, let's just say I've learned the hard way that betas and I don't mix. :( But thank you for the advice and for co-running this lovely comm which is always so supportive! I did end up finishing the story and am quite happy I did and pleased with the result!

Ah well; that's how it goes sometimes.

But I am so glad you got it done! And you are very welcome; K and I know how it is, and we want to keep this place as friendly and supportive as we can, so I'm glad it's helping! ;-)
