Happy Monday!

How has your week been?  It's starting to warm up here in Southern Nevada which is both good and bad.  GREAT because I love the heat and have been freezing by proxy from all the posts my friends on the East Coast have been making lately.  On the other hand, if we're hitting 80ºF in March, I'm going to be roasting come July.  Oh well.  This is not my first summer in the desert, I'll survive (and probably love every skin searing moment of it).

Not a whole lot on my plate this week.  I finally finished the last chaper of a WIP I've been working on which gives me free reign to work on another WIP as well as post a weekend challenge fic from about two weeks ago.  I also have a mound of books to get through before they need to go back to the library.  Rough life I live, eh?

How are you doing this fine March day?  Shout out and let us know what you accomplished last week as well as your plans for the week.

1. Flash challenge: In honor of the almost official start of spring, your prompt is: RAIN!  Actually even got a little of that ourselves this past weekend.  Give us 100 words or a graphic to show how much you love the rain!

2. Last week's challenges:

3. Big Buddy 39% - are you on track or derailed like I am?

Whew! At 2351, I'm back on track for my monthly goal. It was a pretty low-key week for everything but writing. This week I get to see a cousin from out of town on Thursday- he's taking me & my dad to the Blues game so that should be fun. And I might be getting some help at work finally, but we'll have to see how that plays out.

I wish I had some of those desert temperatures here today. It's pretty cold. I just want to crawl back under the covers and hibernate for a while.

Rain (163 words)
Billy was putting the finishing touches on the invoice when his customer spoke.

“Have you ever seen such awful weather as this?”

Billy glanced out the window at the rain that was cascading from the sky. “Not for a while, no,” he answered. In the three years at Penicton, he learned to hate the rain since the guards wouldn’t let them have time in the yard when there was so much as a sprinkle. They never wanted to chance some idiot catching pneumonia and suing the State.

Today, though he felt an itch under his skin, and wanted the woman to stop babbling on about the weather and let him go. Eventually, she did.

He wondered if she looked outside to see him standing there, face up to the sky, letting the droplets hit him. She would probably have thought he was crazy. All he knew was that he was free enough to face the consequences of a few moments in the rain.

Re: Rain (163 words)
I love it! And I can relate to Billy. We get so little rain here that I will stop and stand in the rain every chance I get. <3

Awesome! Aw, how fun. I'm glad you got to see your cousin and enjoy a game. I hope they won. :D

I hate being cold, so I don't blame you in the least!

Hmmm...last week...finished a homework chapter and my paper for class. Got book 2 uploaded and approved (and ready for release in June) I switched NaNo Camp projects as I'm gonna focus on getting a third book ready for later this year (maybe a 4th as well if the money's there).
And if I include the class paper, I've managed to beat the month's goal now. If I don't count it, I've got about 5k to go.
This week will involve study for a midterm, so...we'll see what that does to the writing/editing time.
Oh...and the very first ever print copy of my first book is in my hands!

CONGRATS! When will the first book be available to the public?

Good luck with the midterm and your writing projects.

Its available for pre-order on Amazon now...and officially on sale on April 5th.
The 2nd is listed there too, but won't be available until June.

Awesome, I wish you lots of sales! Link/title so I can find it? (You can PM it to me, too, if you feel awkward posting it here or... tell me to buzz off hahaha)

Good amount ahead on the word count, and I've made a few icons (not posted yet) so happy where I'm at.

We are having amazing weather today! (and today only, LOL) 72 and sunny - for Seattle in March that's like a minor event :P

Score on the words and icons! Even better on the nice weather. I've never been to Seattle - I'll have to come up some day.
Mar. 16th, 2018 03:32 am (UTC)
Most definitely - plenty of things to see/do. And lots and lots of coffee, LOL.

HAH! My sister went to Seattle a couple years ago to visit a friend and she texted me a picture of the Starbucks headquarters and I just cackled. She knows me so well.

And it's doing the complete opposite here! We have had quite warm temps for most of NZ up till yesterday, despite any and all rain that keeps happening (in between heavy rainfall for no apparent reason and tropical cyclones, we have managed some sunny weather but for not nearly long enough to my mind!) and then yesterday it dropped about 4 degrees Celsius to under 20 C for the first time, which means it suddenly feels cold... makes me think autumn is hitting early in these parts. And of course, we had more rain with it, so it feels a little like we need to build an ark... especially if we get another winter like last year! We may not get snow, but it does seem like we get more than our fair share of rain!!! Hope you get more of the warmth at your end anyway!

I've been hopeless with words this month - only 880some so far this month, and since I just realised I have not posted anything new in well over a year, I am feeling a bit of a writing failure! I will get on it though, even if it's mainly graphic words happening until I can do the other better!

I am even struggling to read right now; I'm into the second Wolf Gift book by Anne Rice and I used to almost eat her books, but this one's taking a bit longer, even though it's quite good (and maybe it's more my tastes are changing than her writing specifically).

Otherwise, let's just get through another week of a puppy learning not to bark when no one is home (and he has been very good for me when I'm puppy-sitting, it has to be said).

So apparently, weather is crazy all over? It's warm here today, but windy - expecting gusts up to 50 MPH (80 KPH). So, that ought to be fun... but, that's the desert in springtime, I guess!

We all have months like that, but graphics work too! A little variety in what we do is always good.

I have both of the new Lestat books on my Kindle and I want to read them but I also don't, for that reason. It's been so long since I've read an Anne Rice novel that I'm not sure if I'll even like her any longer (the horror!). I do hope you get back into it and enjoy it though.

Aw, the pup sounds like he's doing well. I have faith that he'll learn to be a good dog. :)

Wow, that is windy! I hope it hasn't been too horrible.

That's true. I just feel bad for having so many WIPs that I can't seem to find enough enthusiasm to finish now... heh. Maybe one day, perhaps?

I have the Lestat ones, and actually quite liked both of them, which I guess is part of why I decided to give the Wolf ones a go. I did read the first one fairly quickly, but the second (while still good) does not have me quite a riveted as it once would have!

He is doing well! He will! We are taking him (and the two younger kids) for a 3 day break at the beach in April - I just booked it today (woo!) because I NEED ANOTHER BREAK DAMMIT, and while it will probably be past swimming weather, we still love walks on the beach, and the pup is both allowed into the house we'll be staying at, and on the beach then as it's past 'summer' and high 'people' season there. ;-)

Thankfully it eased up and brought us a little rain. :)

I know how that goes - I have so many WIPs in progress that it's not even funny.

Good to know that you enjoyed them - I will eventually getting around to reading them. That happens though - I can't tell you how often I've looked forward to the next in a series and can't get into it for whatever reason.

Hooray! Sounds like an excellent trip you have planned and man I JUST NEED A BREAK! I haven't had an actual vacation in probably 10 years. Hope you have a blast.
