Ugh - I'm so annoyed with myself that my creative energy wants to knit and not write lately. On the positive side, I knitted my niece's son a balaclava - first thing I've made for someone else. On the down side..... I LOVE this prompt. I want to write a whole book of letters and diary entries and newspaper clippings and radio reports and magazine clippings and......

I will try to get a ficlet, though - 'cause I've written my first person chapter and second person voice chapter, so... I really want to get two more done.

I know that feeling, finding a pattern is finding a bunny. YAY for making other people stuff! Huge step in knitting!!!

You will get there, I have faith!

Thank you, I hope I will find the words.

And thanks for the knitting encouragement. :). It's funny, my first few things were all pretty sad specimens- socks that were so huge they were more like slippers, for instance; they turned all floofy and 'falling off my feet' loose in a week. But this hat just came together really nicely - neat stitches, zero holes and the yarn isn't mashed up and full of splits or too tight. IDK, I'd like to think it's because I knew I was knitting it for my cutie nephew, but...I'm just not sure how I got that much better, lol.

Now I'm making a blanket on size 50 circular needles, and the learning curve is *right back.* This first blanket will be purely for practice and might need frogging and a do-over 'cause it's kind of a mess.

Some of it's practice, and some of it is that you're learning tension. Tension is all new and different with every different yarn and every different needle size. I've been knitting for YEARS, and only just understand the value of a test square, and even what to do with the information once I've made one.

Also, the mess, it's love. A purl that should have been a knit, an increase that you have no idea how that happened. That means someone loves you and took the time and got a little distracted along the way. It's a beautiful thing

a short 'letter' within a short section:

It was a peculiar note, in a hand she did not recognize, left on her bedroom dresser…a room where most others were discouraged from coming or else risk Carl’s wrath. Jesse came periodically with clean sheets and towels, David1 came with the children, to aid in cleaning, or to fetch either the Lord or Lady on some matter household business or for visitors, the older children sometimes came to leave flowers on the dressers, to return something borrowed…or to borrow something.

Anyone else coming in was rare.

This was not David1’s writing. This was not Jesse’s or Stasio’s or any of the children.

And its contents made very little sense.

“I am sorry. I don’t know where I am. He’s here. He’s coming. Just know…it wasn’t me. It was never me. It wasn’t supposed to be this way…and I’m sorry.”

It read like something River would write.

It made no sense.

And she had no idea, no sense from the paper, who had left it or why.
