an interlude...starring Frank Castle:

“He’s back…in Havensport.”

There was no need to ask the scrawny little fellow with greasy, unruly blonde curls and discolored needle tracks pinpointing stops along the visible veining up and down his spindly arms who he meant. Frank didn’t trust many people, but this one…Frank had saved him from a dealer trying to set him up, rip him off, and now the short fellow was repaying the favor.

His information had been reliable before. There was no reason not to believe him now.

The one called Shades was back in town…and it was up to Frank to hunt him down.

He set the glass down on the porch railing. Nothing was left but the ice cubes that tempered the 18 year old scotch. He needed the drink. It took the edge off the past week. His busy body brother had shown up and literally and figuratively kicked his ass. He’d never admit it to Greg, but he was glad his big brother showed up. He’d needed to kick to get him back in the swing of things and give him hope he’d heal and walk normally again. Leaving the glass, he walked down the steps and out onto the beach.

Steve/Natasha, of course :)

It took four months, and T’Challa’s help, for Steve to find her. Sitting on a bench in the middle of a crowded city, a cup of coffee in her hand.

Gone was the long hair. Gone was the red. She was wearing an outfit similar to what she’d worn when they were on the run together — jeans and a long-sleeve hoodie, the hood pulled up. Sunglasses covered half her face, but he didn’t need a second look to know it was her.

“I’ve missed you,” he said, sitting down beside her.

She didn’t look at him.

“Me too,” she said.
