Weekend Challenge!

Here we are again on another bright & sunny summer day in NZ, rip-roaring and ready to go! I hope the weather isn't too dreary and cold for those of you in northern parts of the world!

As I am off to the art gallery this morning to see some Renaissance art, today's challenge will be all about culture! I will give you a one world prompt based on art and culture!  Do what you will with it, but aim for more than 200 words or 2 icons or more, and post or link to it here by Thursday 18th Jan, and I will reward you with a drabble, an icon or 100 words in a WIP!

Comment here and  as I can, I will prompt you! Tell me if you want one word or more, bearing in mind I will be finding these as I go through my day!

Okay - I'm so tired of failing on the weekend challenge...so here's a bit of McDanno. :). Feel free to put words on a WIP!

"Hey, that's really something," Danny tells Steve. "You're quite the artiste, my friend."

He's walking up behind him on Steve's lawn, a pau hana beer from Steve's fridge in his hand. He knows Steve's ears picked up on the sincerity in his words- knows it because Steve doesn't give him any shit, only shrugs minutely and keeps right on tapping at the canvas with his paintbrush.

"It's ...all right," Steve says, voice low and flat. "It's only a hobby."

"Bullshit. I've seen you draw and paint and you've absolutely got a style. You don't need me to tell you that, you know you do."

"Maybe," Steve looks back and up from where he's sitting in 'his' chair long enough for their eyes to connect. "I don't know, Danny."

"Know what I think? I think it could it have been more for you; you know... if your family history hadn't dictated a course. If your dad weren't such a hard ass and your mom....well if you'd had an actual maternal figure in your life?"

Danny stops right behind him and changes hands with the beer - presses the palm that's been cooled by it to the warmth of Steve's neck in front of him, enjoying the sensation of Steve shivering briefly under his touch.

"You have to be pretty open to criticism to be an artist," Steve tells him. "I"m just as happy to keep it a hobby. Music...painting...drawing...they're the fun that keeps all the weighty days at work bearable, right?"

"And which am I to you?" Danny knows he's fishing; leans over to kiss the top of Steve's head as he asks it. "Weighty work....or the fun that makes it bearable?"

"Oh... I think you know the answer to that," Steve tilts back to look straight up at him, and the combo of that stubbly chin and gazing straight up Steve's nostrils makes Danny chuckle out loud. "You're a whole lot of both, buddy."

Danny plants one more peck on the bridge of that nose, ready to come around and sit with him - but before he can Steve is standing, hand out to pull him around and in toward him, and they're pressed tight together.

He's going to have paint from Steve's easel all over his clothes. If this kiss is any indication, he's also about to have love bites all over his neck and shoulders.

Danny doesn't mind; he's more than happy to be Steve's next canvas for a Friday night.
