The white of the ice is a welcome sight. It’s been too long- a summer and then some away. I feel the excitement build in my veins as the cold air fills my lungs. The rink has a smell like no other. It’s clean, pure, untouched, a perfect contrast to the funk of the locker room. I take my first step on the frozen surface. I skate in slow circles, enjoying the quiet. I begin to accelerate, my skates making clip, clip, clip sounds as I go. The others will join me soon enough, but this is my time now.

I’m making an attempt to get back into writing after very long case of writers block

He stood at the edge of the water, looking out over the turbulent ocean, oblivious to the rain drenching him. He didn’t mind it nearly as much as he normally would have after spending the last several months in first the hospital then the rehab center. His leg was still weak and he still had to be careful of it but at least he was able to start to get back to is life before the accident. Being in Maine was a good way to regain the independence he’d lost. Turning, he carefully picked his way across the sand back toward the small cabin on the beach he lived in next door to his uncle. Never noticing the blonde woman who watched him from her porch.

Yeah... I'm catching up here.

Closing her eyes, she relaxed back into the hot bath, letting the water lap at her neck, shoulders, chin. The next four days were hers and hers alone. No ex-husband, no kids, no work no… no nothing. He might come to visit, he always knew when she was alone – and lonely. She didn’t know how he always knew, but somehow, he did. If only...

She felt more than saw the shadow pass across her prone form, forcing her eyes open, muscles tense. It was only him, once again appearing as if summoned. Relaxing, she smiled and held her arms open.
