Awesome Monday

Happy Monday and Happy Solar Eclipse Day....

August Rush is ongoing and we've had some really amazing stories and graphics.

older_not_dead is running a promptathon this month, so wander over and see what tickles the Muse.

smallfandombang is about to start again for another year. Sign ups begin September 1st. It's a perfect way to give your favorite small fandom lots of love and share it with others.

The Universe is giving us and a major display of awesomeness in North America today, so let's see if we can eclipse it. I know I can hear the collective groans, but it was begging to be written.

I'm hoping to finish a fic for August Rush and work on my many wips.

Everybody else? Bueller? Bueller??

I hit my monthly target yesterday :D For the first time this year and am working on clawing back some of the yearly deficit!
The release of The Defenders on Netflix certainly helped.

I also second the recommendation of Small Fandom Big Bang, it drags me back into the Man From UNCLE fandom each and every year!

Go you!!

That is awesome.

I love MFU. It truly is an underappreciated fandom.

Awesome! You can get caught up, I have faith!

Hah - I went and joined as well. I'm a sucker for bingos and challenges of all sorts. :D

Finished the major editing pass over the weekend, so before I start the final audio edit, I'm taking a day or so to do a few other writing bits. Today is our eclipse party here at the office, so I'm excited...I always have to be sure the sun/moon comes back after an eclipse...I guess its the primal part of me ;)
Aug. 21st, 2017 03:59 pm (UTC)
Awesome, you're doing amazing as always.

Have fun with the party! I have to say, being a moonchild, I'm feeling a little off today. :D

Awesomesauce! You're rocking it. Have fun at your party.

Not sure if I ever told you or not, but I love that icon. :D Recently splurged on a Kindle copy of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. The physical copy I have is 25 years old and on its last legs. Time for a reread!

Um... anyway.

After I get these invoices entered and a bill written, I'm going to catch up on the last two days' worth for August Rush. Good luck with your fic!

The Universe is against us! We're supposed to get a pretty good view of the eclipse here in southern NV and IT IS RAINING RIGHT NOW. *snort* I love a good pun so you're safe with me.

I've got an idea for a cute, quick fic that I hope to get written today as well. Other than that, I'm not sure what to work on next. Time to go digging I suppose.

My high school drama/ English teacher turned me onto Hitchhikers and it's been a love affair ever since. I'm glad you love the icon.

Boo on the rain even if it is needed. I'm gonna be busy and stuck inside while it occurs here, because Wally World has no time for universal wonders.

Looking forward to the pictorial goodies as well as the new fic.

Let me know if I need to send Five for a visit. He does love to travel...lol

I don't even remember how I got into it, but I agree - it's been a quirky love affair ever since.

I know, right? We've had one dry as heck monsoon season and Mother Nature picks today to give us rain. Sorry that you'll be stuck inside though. My boss brought in a pair of glasses that look like they came straight out of Call of Duty so that made me laugh.

Thanks! I've peeked at the images and they look like they'll be good ones. And the fic is silly, but aren't they (almost) always?

I'm going to peruse my notebook first. If I can't find something in there, send the bunny over. I have greens, carrots, and all the things he'll need for a visit. I can let him go play with the quail I saw when I stopped by the library this morning. :D
Aug. 21st, 2017 04:55 pm (UTC)
We sold those paper glasses that reminded me of 3D glasses.

He says all that sounds yummy. Please don't feed him any purple carrots. They make him horny and all hell breaks loose when he gets like that.

Neat! Our local libraries were giving them out. Sadly, it's too cloudy to see anything.

LMAO... that's just part of being a bunny. I had one named Dusty that was having an illicit affair with my roommate's work shoe. Just the left one though. John was not impressed and bought Dusty a stuffed animal. That poor whale, that's all I'm sayin'.
Aug. 21st, 2017 05:55 pm (UTC)

Poor whale indeed.
Aug. 21st, 2017 06:03 pm (UTC)
Yeah, poor thing's SEEN THINGS and will never be the same. :D
Aug. 22nd, 2017 12:21 am (UTC)
SEEN? It sounds an awful like the whale's been abused and may never recover!

Now I'm reminded of the whale and the pot of petunias...
Aug. 22nd, 2017 09:30 pm (UTC)
Yeah, that poor, mauve whale took a turn or three in the washing machine because of the rabbit. :D

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH. "Oh no, not again." :D

Okay, it's official - I have got to read that book again soon.

I LOVE HITCHHIKER'S GUIDE TOO! (just thought I'd put that in there) ;-)

Happy international fanfic writers appreciation day! That's what I've read today is. Happy day to the fan artists, too - I always say thank you for the fan artists and the manip makers. :).

I've been struggling a bit with the writing, but am hopeful I'll pick it back up over the next couple of weeks. My goal is to start making some time in the AMs, when my brain is more engaged - we'll see how that goes! I'd really like to end this week with a nice total for August and then coast the last few days. :)
Aug. 22nd, 2017 12:28 pm (UTC)
You got this.
Aug. 22nd, 2017 12:38 am (UTC)
August Rush is going great guns! People are producing some wonderful things! (I only wish I'd managed, but it's not looking likely now! NEXT YEAR, I say).

I am busy still with organising things at home - more new (storage-type) furniture arriving at the end of this week so maybe I'll actually get some books on shelves and CDs put away too on Saturday...

As for Sunday, the Hubby and I fly to Sydney, and then on Monday we board a cruise ship to bring us home again! We'll be at sea for four nights and I am really looking forward to the experience as I've never cruised before!

Hope those who could got to see the eclipse (although not directly - don't want anyone going blind!). We saw one here at work a few years back (only a partial, but still spectacular) and I can remember it caused great excitement! We didn't get particularly good views of it, but everyone was racing around with coloured cellophane and other such filters to try and see it; luckily it wasn't cloudy!
Aug. 22nd, 2017 01:58 am (UTC)
Hope that you love the cruise and have an AMAZING time! Do you know the name of your ship? Will look it up, would be interested to know what you think - I've never taken a cruise, and am split on whether I might enjoy it.

The eclipse was only 72% in NYC- it got twilighty out, though. You could definitely tell that it went from broad daylight to pre-sunset mode and then back in a few minutes. Some coworkers had the special glasses, and I got the chance to watch it through them for a minute or so right as it was @2/3 done. That was pretty cool, because even though the day looked normal again by then, the moon was definitely still hanging out over the sun.

If I don't get run over by the crosstown bus, there's a full/totality one due to hit upstate NY in 2024. My family's there, so ... those who might want to pay a visit and stake out a camp site just north of the Adirondacks, keep it in mind!

Have a good time on your cruise, and there is always next month to come up with words.
