Hawaii Five 0::Danno

Word of the Day 01/26/18 Decathect

Decathect (verb)
decathect [dee-kuh-thekt]

verb (used with object)
1. to withdraw one's feelings of attachment from (a person, idea, or object), as in anticipation of a future loss: He decathected from her in order to cope with her impending death.

Origin: de- + cathect

Now YOU come up with a sentence (or fic? or graphic?) that best illustrates the word.

[some of my thoughts in regards to a character of a tv show and it could be considered a spoiler?]This sort of reminds me of Danny Williams from Hawaii Five-0 and how he waits for the next bad thing to happen...and could why he hasn't told his 'girlfriend' he loves her despite being with her for at least 3 years now.

Weekend Challenge: Who Wants More Film Noir quotes? I do, I do!!

I am in charge of the Weekend Challenge this last relatively warm (here in PA at least) weekend in January and I decided we needed another round of quotes from detective/ film noir movies-WOO HOO!!

Classic film noir are filled with hard-boiled dialogue which is the literary equivalent of a quick punch to the gut.  Here’s an example:  “You ever cross me again, or look like it, I’ll bury you. Now beat it.” These hard-boiled lines come from the mind of tough-guy private investigator Philip Marlowe, which is to say from author Raymond Chandler.  The characters in film noir are all morally gray and you're never sure if the hero isn’t actually the villain or that the villain might turn out to be right in the end.

Now if you want to go along for this ride, load your gat, put on your gumshoes, and join me in the drizzly, treacherous world of noir.

Choose a number between 1 and 45 and I will give you a famous film noir line.  For example:  “"She tried to sit in my lap while I was still standing.”

See what I mean by a punch to the gut :):)   I hope this craziness inspires you, so please be as creative as you can--drabbles/fics can be as long as you want but at least 200 words and you can do any sort of art work the spirit moves you    Just post your work by Thursday night at 11:59pm EST, and you'll be golden.  Lastly, HAVE FUN!!!

I am not creative in any way with artwork, so if you want an icon, I will have to ask for help, but I can give you a drabble or add to my WIP.  Collapse )

We will be scheduling specific days in February!

Comment here and I'll put you on the list! It's as simple as stepping up when your name is called and doing your utmost to meet your own daily word count (whatever that may be). When you finish, write a small bragging post and call up the next contestant!

Big Buddy February!

Comment here with the count you can reach in the month (remember to factor in holidays, finals, road trips, pajama days, hangovers, etc). I will check in with you every 6(ish) days to make sure you are on schedule, to push you if you aren't, and to shake pompoms at you if you are (Well, I'll probably shake pompoms at you either way).

Your count is up to you. There is no minimum beyond what you decide. But Big Buddy will be watching you! If you pledge 100 words/images, then every 6 days chime in to tell us that you've produced 20% of them.

This is not words to be done in lieu of something else. If you have a bingo, or a big bang, or a drabble-a-day, it all counts! Words/images do not have to be posted to count, they just have to be done!
