newspeak [noo-speek, nyoo-]

Origin: new + speak, coined by George Orwell in his novel, 1984 (1949)

Now YOU come up with a sentence (or fic? or graphic?) that best illustrates the word.

Sunday Word Wars

It looks like I flubbed the date/time converting to UTC -so sorry about that -

I guess I used London instead of UTC - darn Yank that I am - I think of it as the same - d'oh.

Round 1: 10:00 AM PDT (18:00 UTC) to 10:25 AM PDT (18:25 UTC)
Round 2: 10:35 AM PDT (18:35 UTC) to 11:00 AM PDT (19:00 UTC)
Round 3: 11:10 AM PDT (19:10 UTC) to 11:35 AM PDT (19:35 UTC)
Round 4: 11:45 AM PDT (19:45 UTC) to 12:10 PM PDT (20:10 UTC)

I know a few may be here early - so happy to call a pre-war bonus round while I get my act together.

I'll start the bonus round at 25 past the hour - that will give participants the standard 10 min break between rounds.

I took a little longer coffee break than I'd intended but here are the totals. WE WERE ALL AWESOME!!!

Monthly Madness – Original Fic: When the Words Get in the Way

(You’re singing that now, aren’t you?)

Most of the time, the words flow.  Sometimes, I have a hard time stopping them even.  But then, there are those days when I can’t find a single word to write. Or, the ones that I do find seem all wrong.  In the case of the latter, I find myself overusing my crutch words and bogging down the story with boring words.  Has this ever happened to you?  What do you do to break out of this rut and make the words flow again?

The thing that usually works best for me is either picking up a book by one of my favorite authors.  Getting lost in someone else’s world, immersing myself in their words, is what usually shakes it all loose for me.  What works for you?

Me on any given day:

Daily Count Challenge to agdhani.

I created some icons. My year goal was 200 arts. Now I need 45 more arts to finish this goal. :D

I wrote words. Many words! 1,873 words for Sunday Word Wars. I'm still working on the same fanfiction. wordcounter just told me that I wrote 3,487 words total. Earlier this week I also wrote a fanfiction with 350 words. My year goal was 2,000. In January I changed this number because the last few years I wasn't able to write that much words. And look at this: I wrote 3,837 words since Tuesday. I'm still not done with this story. So there will be more words. (But it's almost Monday for me. So I wanted to post now before being late again.)

YAY! I'm happy now. :D First I thought this fanfiction was a bad idea (for personal reasons). But now I think it was the best idea ever. :D I'm happy that my personal goal (the only reason why I started writing this fanfiction!) really worked. :o)

I'm passing the torch to agdhani. Good luck and have fun! <3

[EDIT!] Fanfiction done with 4,061 words. :o)
