father, further (see usage note)

Usage note
Although some usage guides insist that only farther should be used for physical distance (We walked farther than we planned), farther and further have been used interchangeably throughout much of their histories. However, only further is used in the adverbial sense “moreover” (Further, you hurt my feelings) and in the adjectival senses “more extended” (no further comment) and “additional” (Further bulletins came in).

The expression all the farther (or further) in place of as far as occurs chiefly in informal speech: This is all the farther the train goes.

Origin: 1300-50; Middle English ferther; orig. variant of further

Now YOU come up with a sentence (or fic? or graphic?) that best illustrates the word.

Word Wars - Saturday Edition?

Anyone up for Word Wars this Saturday? My usual times:

Round 1 starting at 6am Pacific (14:00 UTC) and wrapping up around 8:15 am (16:15 UTC)?

I've finished my first read through of my 2015 NaNo and will be spending today and tomorrow making a timeline and coming up with a list of scenes that I can start writing/rewriting. Already behind on my word count target for Jan :)

Passing the Word of the Day Torch .... to Kaige68!

Well, I put down just over 350 fresh words and did some editing on a fic. I'm counting it as a win, 'cause honestly my brain is still recovering from all the writing, re-writing, and editing in December and my muse isn't even speaking to me. She left a note telling me to stick it in my actual ear.

So... yeah. I'll manage more on repeats - and in the meantime, you're on Kaige! May the words be with you.
