NaNoWriMo and Mini_WriMo checkin

Good morning campers! How is everyone doing with their NaNo and/or mini_wrimo projects?

For those doing the full NaNo, you should be aiming to break 10K words by the end of the weekend. For those doing mini_wrimo, you should be aiming to be about 20 percent done with your goals.

We've had a couple of word wars this weekend and have one more scheduled for Sunday. All of course are welcome for however many rounds.

So checkin, crow about your progress, vent about your setbacks, share a favorite playlist - let us hear how you're doing!

Fandom Squee Days 4 & 5: First Fandom!

So every weekend this Fandom Squee month, we are going to do something a little different. Instead of giving you a specific fandom, we're going to give a more general theme to open up the squeeing to even more fandoms. So today I present to you:

Everyone has one — that fandom that drew you in. Maybe it's the one that got you started writing fic or creating graphics. Or maybe you just secretly had your first ship and spent hours thinking about them.

For me, my first fandom was on for only 12 episodes back in 1991: Dark Shadows. I had never seen the original (I've seen an episode here and there since then) and I didn't know the story, but I fell in love with this show. I had no idea what shipping was back then, but I shipped Barnabus and Victoria so damn hard. And when it ended on a cliffhanger, never to return to TV, I spent a lot of hours dreaming of what would have happened. I didn't actually write fic back then, but if I had, I probably would have written novels.

Ughhh this show. Forever going to hold a piece of my heart.

So, now it's your turn. Tell me about your first fandom!
