Weekend Challenge: Old School Shuffle

Hello all! Unlike a lot of you whippersnappers, some of us old folks barely know what an ipod is and still have our music on CDs. Or cassette tapes. Or albums. 8-tracks, anyone?

For this challenge, pick a letter between A and Y (sorry, no artists beginning with "Z" in my collection.) I'll then pick a random CD by an artist whose last name begins with that letter and your prompts will be Tracks 2 and 6 from that CD.

You can pick up to three letters (or you can pick the same letter 3 times, or any combination of letters) so you'll get lots of options. (If I don't happen to have an artist with that letter, you'll get the previous letter instead.)

Easy, right? In return, I'll add to both of my challenge fics that are due this weekend. Nothing like leaving them to the last minute!

Okay folks, drop a needle on the vinyl, slip into your pencil skirt, and let's play!

Technically, the 8-tracks belong to the folks, but I know where they are.

Fellow older person here :):) I don't have an ipod, so if I want to listen to my favorite songs, I'll pop in a cd or one of my old tapes and jam away. I still have my records, but I no longer have a record player to play them on, but I understand record players are coming back into vogue--WOO HOO!!

Now onto this superb challenge, may I have: K,M, and G? And yes, they are my initials :):)

I hope you feel better soon :):)

Vinyl is all the rage these days. Bought a record player for my daughter two Christmases ago... so she can play her Justin Bieber, god help us all. :D (She also got a Fall Out Boy album so it evens out, I guess.)

I would like letters A and J, please, since you have no Z. (And how do you not have any ZZ Top? Kidding...)

8-tracks always make me think of my mom and her love of Bobby Vinton. Yeah, there's a throwback for you.
Apr. 7th, 2017 07:04 pm (UTC)
Bobby Vinton, the Polish Prince :):)

When I was a child, my mom used to play her Johnny Mathis albums all the time, especially when it was time for my nap. To this day, I here "Chances Are" and I need to lie down :):)

Apr. 8th, 2017 02:36 am (UTC)
I was a teen in the 80s. The love lives on. :)
Apr. 8th, 2017 05:27 pm (UTC)
I LOVE old school music! We had a big ol' stereo when I was a kid with a record player as well as an 8 track tape player and of course the old am/fm radio with the tv channels in it too! Wonder what ever happened to that? Or our 8 tracks? Hmm, might need to do some investigating! And Mom and Dad still have the old stereo that played her 78s and had a radio. Radio still works in it too! :D I've got Mom's old portable record player from the 50s. And yes, I still use it. And now I feel like I should get it out to listen to my 45s and albums since I'm home alone right now! :D

May I please have S, B and R?
Apr. 8th, 2017 07:47 pm (UTC)
Oh my, I remember our stereo was as long as a coffee table and looked like a cabinet. There was a record player at one end and a radio at the other, with big speakers on either end and a cabinet in the middle. The top part between record player and radio lifted up too, but I don't remember what was in there. Haven't thought of that thing in YEARS.

I hope you DID pull out that record player and listen to some old tunes!

Let's see...

For S -- Spandau Ballet, "Greatest Hits"

Track 2 - Paint Me Down
Track 6 - Round and Round

For B -- Michael Buble (self titled)

Track 2 - It Had Better Be Tonight
Track 6 - Lost

For R -- The Ramones, "Rocket to Russia"

Track 2 - Rockaway Beach
Track 6 - Sheena is a Punk Rocker

Now THAT's an eclectic collection. Good luck!
