fandom: Veronica Mars
Veronica stared up at the sky. It was a downpour, and it suited Veronica's mood perfectly. She had just voted for her dad to become the next sheriff, but she had a feeling it wasn't going to make much of a difference. Not after everything he did to protect her.

She took a deep breath. She should have brought an umbrella, but her mind had been elsewhere.

"Want to share?" a familiar voice asked.

Her eyes widened. Logan had snuck up on her without her being aware. He was smart enough to bring an umbrella, and he was waiting for her answer. "Did you vote?"

Logan nodded. "I hope your dad gets it."

She looked at the ground. "He won't." It might sound pessimistic, but she just knew he wouldn't.

She forced a smile and stepped under the umbrella. "Thanks. I didn't even think to bring one."

They walked silently side by side. "So, what are your plans for the summer?" he asked.

She realized she never told him. They were broken up, and things were messy because of Piz and Parker. "Internship with the FBI."

He looked at her while they continued walking. "Really? I'm not that surprised that they accepted you, but congratulations."

"Thanks. Not sure if it's what I want, but at least I'll explore the opportunity a bit."

"The FBI has lots of rules and regulations. Or at least that's what I've heard," Logan advised.

"And Veronica Mars doesn't always do well with rules. I know, but I'll at least see what the FBI's really about. And if nothing else, it will be good experience for me."

They kept walking, and Veronica saw they were nearing her apartment. "So, you have that trip, right?"

"Well, Big Dick is in town to spend time with Little Dick, so I think the trip is canceled. I'll find something else to do, though."

Veronica nodded. "There's no hope for you making up with Parker?"

"Well, when your current girlfriend accuses you of still loving your ex-girlfriend, and you don't deny it, I'm pretty sure any hope for reconciliation is shot."

Veronica stopped, and Logan followed her lead. "You still love me?"

Logan stared into her eyes, and she saw nothing but unbridled honesty in his gaze. "I really do."

She swallowed. Whatever she had for Piz had fizzled as quickly as it started, and she had broken up with him. She was single. Logan was single. And he was admitting to still having feelings for her. "Maybe when I get back from Virginia, I can call you?"

Logan smiled. And was that hope in his eyes? "I'd like that."
