NaNoWriMo checkin

Howdy folks! It's that time again. Some of you will be starting NaNoWriMo before I get home from work today - (or at least I think the folks on the other side of the pond might hit midnight on Nov 1 long before me) so I thought we'd kick off the first checkin post a little early.

Is everyone stoked? Nervous? Wondering how in the heck you're going to find time to make your word counts?

Personally this year is going to be a bit of a challenge ... Hubby and I have identical work schedules and we both are NaNo participants so we have some computer time sharing to do - that and work has been insanely busy - but hey - this just may be the thing I need to kick my ass in gear and get creating again. I've had quite the dry spell, although I am putting the final touches on a little belated b-day gift for kaige68 ...

So drop us a note and let us know a little about your plans for NaNo this year :D

Tomorrow I'll try and squeeze in some word wars - not sure exactly when but likely around 4pm Pacific Time - Stay Tuned!

I'm nervous this year. Lost track of time and didn't outline like I always do. Will be trying my hand a pantsing for the first time.

Oh boy.

From a long time pantser, the best tip I can give you is if you find yourself worrying that you've lost the plot - start a fresh page and keep going. Never, ever delete until after NaNo. The odd bits that seem out of place because it wasn't planned can turn into some really good stuff - And you can always outline and tighten things up later.

You've got this - you're going to do fantastic!

Pantsing can be fun! The most I've ever had planned is enough for about 2-3 chapters and a general idea of what the end will be, and I've won Nano every time. YOU CAN DO IT!! *cheerleads*
