NaNoWriMo checkin

Howdy folks! It's that time again. Some of you will be starting NaNoWriMo before I get home from work today - (or at least I think the folks on the other side of the pond might hit midnight on Nov 1 long before me) so I thought we'd kick off the first checkin post a little early.

Is everyone stoked? Nervous? Wondering how in the heck you're going to find time to make your word counts?

Personally this year is going to be a bit of a challenge ... Hubby and I have identical work schedules and we both are NaNo participants so we have some computer time sharing to do - that and work has been insanely busy - but hey - this just may be the thing I need to kick my ass in gear and get creating again. I've had quite the dry spell, although I am putting the final touches on a little belated b-day gift for kaige68 ...

So drop us a note and let us know a little about your plans for NaNo this year :D

Tomorrow I'll try and squeeze in some word wars - not sure exactly when but likely around 4pm Pacific Time - Stay Tuned!

I still have about 19 hours until it is November 1st for me so I'm going to spend some of the remaining hours desperately trying to get my outline together so that I can hit my first word count on the 1st.

You've got this! We are going to rock!

t - 12 hours here and desperately trying to get a fic finished before NaNo hits ... as well as university work of course. Finding time is gonna be hard but I'll try and make it work :)

You can do it!

I doubt I'll do the "stay up until midnight to write the first sentence' ritual...not if I want to be awake for work on Tuesday...

But I'm gonna read through my 2 sets of plot notes and the character descriptions a couple of times today for good measure, and since I'm rewriting a previously abandoned project, I think I'm in a good place to be ready to go tomorrow.

I'm up a bit later than I thought I'd be, but I'm much more a morning person these days so I don't think I'll start NaNo until later.

You're going to do awesome!

I'm nervous this year. Lost track of time and didn't outline like I always do. Will be trying my hand a pantsing for the first time.

Oh boy.

From a long time pantser, the best tip I can give you is if you find yourself worrying that you've lost the plot - start a fresh page and keep going. Never, ever delete until after NaNo. The odd bits that seem out of place because it wasn't planned can turn into some really good stuff - And you can always outline and tighten things up later.

You've got this - you're going to do fantastic!

Pantsing can be fun! The most I've ever had planned is enough for about 2-3 chapters and a general idea of what the end will be, and I've won Nano every time. YOU CAN DO IT!! *cheerleads*

I am doing two projects so I am not nervous and counting everything I write to my word count!
Nov. 1st, 2016 06:12 am (UTC)
Awesome! You're going to rock both projects!!

This year, for the first time ever, I have a timeline! I don't know what's going to happen since I actually jave a plan but I'm starting at midnight in an online write-in, getting up around 6 or so and going to another online write-in, going to an in person write-in at noon at a coffee shop, and the library after that until 8. Maybe a little much but I plan to start strong since I tend to fall behind. :)
Now I need caffeine, aspirin, and a little bit more of a plan.

Wow, that's quite a busy day! Hope you get off to a great start! :)
Nov. 1st, 2016 06:13 am (UTC)
Wow! That is awesome! Can't wait to hear how many words !

You rock!!
Nov. 1st, 2016 01:10 am (UTC)
I haven't written more than about a thousand words in a month, so I'm nervous about starting. Usually that's not the case. My goal is to get two hours in when I get home from work in the morning (I work nights) and hope that the muse is cooperative!
Nov. 1st, 2016 06:14 am (UTC)
The Muse will not abandon you! (*sending hopeful thoughts for you*)

I've not done much writing or graphics either so we are in the same boat. Going to try some word wars to help keep me going.

You've got this! You're awesome!
Nov. 1st, 2016 11:39 am (UTC)
I've been home about 35 mins and... have not started yet. But I refuse to go to bed until I've at least cracked 1K.

Word wars, yes. Alllll the word wars! I hope I can join you on at least a few!

You've got this! You're awesome!

Right back atcha!

One hour and counting until November! I'm super excited, but also a little nervous about reaching my word count. We'll see how things go and where life takes me. :D

Good luck to everyone!
Nov. 1st, 2016 06:16 am (UTC)
You will do awesome!
Nov. 1st, 2016 06:04 am (UTC)
i'm doing mini_wrimo (thanks to whoever mentioned it!) because I don't have time for main NaNo. here's hoping i can do my 100 words a day!
Nov. 1st, 2016 06:17 am (UTC)
Oops - I forgot to put that in my header/post. Consider all my checkin and cheerleading posts to include mini_wrimo as well as NaNo - even if when I spaz and forget to actually type it.

You will rock and you will make your 100 words per day!
