He watches as she dances through the air. Her every move is elegant. Her every move is lightning striking, and yet, she doesn't even have her powers right now. He could dispatch this gang of thugs just as easily as she does, although he wouldn't look half as good doing it. She doesn't need his help, though, so he just stands back and watches her go with a wide, proud smile on his lips.
When Ororo's boots finally touch the ground again, he's grinning and feels like applauding. The kid next to him whispers, "Wow."
Ororo wipes her hands off, beautiful hands that can be gentle and loving, Logan knows, or take a life, if she chose, in the snap of a second. He grins at her. "Beautiful work, darlin'."
"They had it coming," she says to which he nods.
"Sure did," he murmurs around his cigar. She lifts the cigar from his mouth in a flash, murmurs something about how she shouldn't be kissing him since cigar smoke tastes so disgusting and she has asked him many times to quit, but kisses him any way.
Kitty watches her best friends with wide eyes before whispering again, "Wow." Her dragon coos as she scratches his chin. "Some day, I'm gonna be like that, Lockheed." He seems to coo his agreement. Logan himself would agree as well, but he's too busy kissing his woman back and being lost in the passion of the storm.
Years later, another man watches a beautiful woman dance on the throats of thugs. She has powers, but she doesn't need to use them for this fight. Her jabs and kicks are as swift and smooth as lightning, and he loves to watch her elegant, powerful moves. She has their guns dismantled in seconds; ninety seconds later, she has the bulky guys all laying on the cement and groaning in pain.
Her partner grins from around his cigarette and does put his hands together in applause. He claps a few times before dropping his hands and smirking at the groaning men. "Told you blokes you didn't want to mess with her."
"Give me that," Pryde demands, walking over to Wisdom and jerking the cigarette out of his mouth. He starts to complain, but as she crushes his cigarette underneath her shoe, she grabs the collar of his trench coat and yanks him down to her lips. His groan is altogether different from those rising from the ground.
Their tongues quarrel heatedly for several long minutes. His arms wrap around her, his long, slender fingers kneading the small of her back. When she finally lifts her mouth from his, he's the one left gasping. "You're like lightning, Pryde," he murmurs, grinning widely, and her memory flashes back to that moment so long ago now back in the '80s.
"No," she replies softly against his lips, her brown eyes dancing. "I knew some one like lightning." But maybe she is like her, Kitty thinks, and that makes her proud.
Pete knows exactly who she means. He's made fun of the X-Men many times, but they, more than any one else, trained his girl and impacted her life so that she became the woman she is. His grin widens as he looks forward to meeting them but hopes that, unlike Kurt and Brian, they'll understand that he loves Kitty and will never hurt her. She pulls him in for another kiss, and as her tongue darts into his mouth and her mouth devours his, he thinks again, Oh, yeah, babe. Definitely like lightning, before all thoughts cease and he just relishes kissing her back while the world looks on and admires the woman he hopes to always be able to claim as his.
