Rainy Days and Mondays: Prompt sets

We are four for five so far, on our Rainy Days and Mondays prompts! They've drawn out scenes, chapters, ficlets, and even a brand-spanking-new long form fic already!

This week, I thought I'd try a trio of 'three things' prompts provided by an online prompt generator....

Here they are, the sets I liked best. I think they've got the potential to serve in a variety of genres - you could go angsty, romantic, fluffy, hurt/comfort.

Set 1:
muddy boots by a door
a damp towel
an old quilt/comforter

Set 2:
a flat tire
a bag of takeout food
an unwanted 8pm phone call

Set 3:
a red rose
a silver photo frame near a rain-splattered window
delayed receipt of a letter/call/text

To me there's also something moody about them, but perhaps that's just me.

Feel free to use them as-is or to mix them up. Or... maybe write them on paper, cut the paper up, throw it in the air - see what pattern you get from the pieces and what it suggests. Ha. :)

Hope you have a great, creative week - and sorry for being a bit late with this one! I'll aim to do better next weekend.

Gah - I can think of scenarios for ALL THREE OF THESE, each with a different set of original characters. Hmmm... which to tackle first?

Yay! :). Glad to see this struck someone - I kind of like these, myself.

These are wonderful! I always say it, but wow, it's especially fun to see these prompts turn into fic. They were the least intensively thought-out prompts I've done in awhile, but I just really liked them, the first set especially.

That third one is trickier- too easy to fall into over-sentimentality, maybe.

Congrats on the words and very well done!

I read this earlier but didn't have time to comment then - enjoyed it both times! :) Thank you for sharing it.

I finished #1 with a little bit of original fic. :)

This Old House

On to the next! (And you're so right - the last one could get angsty...)

Ah, I enjoyed that. Hurt/comfort and aftercare rock my fic world. :) I like where you took this - and I like that so many people wrote #1 'cause damn I like that prompt. It's really fun seeing them all.

And I just thought of a fun way to make the last one *not* angsty (for once!) so I'm off to write that!

Thank you so much! And being a Cancer, aftercare is like my middle name (mother to the universe and all that). So, I'm glad you liked it!

All of these prompts are awesome and I plan on writing something for all three!

Score! We all need something happy in our lives sometimes! :D
