Missed out on Monday

Oh man, these two weeks are going to be tough. There is no sleep, there are only words and knitting. And baking. And wrapping. And…

Anyway I am so excited about how well both the Advent Event and the Swap of Joy have been going. YOU FOLKS ARE AWESOME! You already knew that , but MAN O MAN YOU ARE AWESOME! Every day I am awed!!

Swap of Joy wraps up this week and 12 Days of WIPness starts on Sunday. I’m excited about all of that too!!!! ALL THE THINGS!!! (I may need more coffee) I even found graphics! Are you ready?!

Now, I have a favor to ask. I would like you each to check through our list of members for friends that you don’t see here that much, and poke them if you get the chance to update their counts. Remember we need 3 million words this month and I’m happy to beg. PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

So what are your big plans for the week? Are you ready for 12 days? Are you ready for the year end? Are you ready for ALL THE THINGS? I am not. 

Now it is that time of the year that H and I take a look at 2015, think about what worked for us and what we want to change in 2016. We’re looking to schedule monthly challenges, weekend challenges, and seasonal challenges, weekly challenges… You get the point.

We also put it to you. What worked for you this year? What didn’t? Is there something you would like to see more of? Is there something you’d like to suggest that we haven’t tried? We do try to implement all of the suggestions we get. Are there things you’d like to volunteer for?

We are absolutely amazing here. I know that every day. I have known that every day for three years. And I know that it is because of all of you, and because of the participation and efforts that you all put in here. We all produce differently, we are all inspired uniquely, and we make it work! 2016 should look out for us!

The only things beyond work for me this week are our xmas lunch at the office on Friday...taking the kitten to be fixed and get a vaccine...and hopefully words.

Hoping working on my NaNo will count as WIP...although there's no way I can get it done in December...even if all I did was write (no eating or sleeping etc, lol) but still making progress, and hoping for more in my non work days (office is closed between 21st and 4th...although I'll be here one day fixing the printer and a few other hours while waiting for my daughter to do her SPCA time.

I'm thankful I was able to use a bunch of the prompts this year. I've been saving the others, and hoping to get to some...but as focused as I've been on my NaNo project, I've not had much time for side bits. I'm sure there will be more in the future, however :)

*fingers crossed* for the kitten, and I'm a little jealous of your shut down. Enjoy as little of the quiet time in the office as possible.

the only problem with the shut down is that, if we've used our vacation time elsewhere, its time without pay. That usually means no vacations at other times like summer or whatever :/ I'll have enough to cover this few weeks, since I'll get to break it up with the day of working on the printer and a few hrs here and there checking mail and phone messages but still...*sigh*

On the plus side, time to write is a good thing...and I'm planning one full hobbit/lotr extended versions viewing day...a Highlander binge, and probably some Supernatural with my daughter. Nice, quiet time really :)

We used to have a 1 week shut down, and while it did absorb most of the vaca time, it was wonderful to not come in to stuff on your desk because everyone else was still working.

But, your plans sound lovely!

I've got an exchange and SOJ to finish and turn in this week, so that's where my big numbers for the month will come from. Looking forward to the 12 Days of WIPness, because I plan on trying to finish up an old challenge. 23 stories in 12 days.

I think everything you and H have thought up has worked well for us. Maybe make word wars a monthly thing, because that worked really for me when I got a chance to participate.

Good luck with the knitting, baking and writing.

Word wars did work well for us, so we'll def try for more! :)

YAY for you and plans!!! YOU CAN TOTALLY DO THIS!!!
Dec. 15th, 2015 04:41 pm (UTC)
You and I are in the same boat, honey! Well, minus the knitting over this way. But still.

I love all the challenges, especially the weekend challenges. I want to participate in the word of the day more often, but tend to fail that one badly. Just... ALL THE CHALLENGES. Because I'm a weirdo.

Not much planned this week aside from baking and hopefully making words. I have a 5k word chapter to post today, so that'll boost my word count a bit. Hopefully I can get the other 10k posted by the end of the year.

I'm on track for making my graphics count for this year - so yay :D

Losing a lot of things on my external drive this year has been oddly liberating, despite the major hassles (luckily I can restore most of the music which is where I've spent way too much money over the years) and it has put me in a 'fresh start' mind set. I've narrowed down the WIPs to 3, one being this year's NaNoWriMo which will have to wait until next year to see some revising/finishing time. The other 2 I hope to finish during the 12 days of WIPness. It felt good to part with things that I had lost interest in. Sometimes the best way to clear your plate/closet is to throw it away :D

In the spirit of 'fresh starts' I'll be taking a break from the land comms (like gameofcards and allthefandoms) and looking to focus on longer term projects - like NaNo, perhaps a big bang or two, and/or some of the bingo challenges. Perhaps find new techniques or other ways to improve.

I had a blast hosting word wars during November so I'm volunteering to host those to whatever schedule kaige and haldoor come up with :)

There is such a wonderful energy to a fresh start, no matter how you come about it. I'm very excited for you!!!

I am finally starting to get somewhere with personal Christmas things - here, all the kids get out for summer in early-to-mid December if they haven't already finished in November (senior years), so my youngest finished this week and now there is no more rushing around for school-related activities, that's one less thing to worry about!

I also sent off the very last overseas Christmas card today, so tonight will be the NZ ones and then I'm done *brushes off hands*, which is my biggest pre-Christmas job aside from shopping. Shopping, I have one major thing to buy, and then I just need to go through everything to make sure I haven't missed anyone, and wrap!

Hubby's made the first cake, and has the second and Christmas eve food under control, while I will ensure we have everything for Christmas Day at my sister's, and then all that's left is the tree buying (decorating is my daughters' job). Phew.

Wordwise, only a Christmas letter got counted for words so far this month, but I am all over the 12 Days of WIPness, so you should see much many more fic words from yours truly for that! I have started work on my Advent days, which means I just need to finish those off before the 20th and I'll be there!

As for next year... well, You know I'm on board for everything that comes up - happy to see what everyone else is interested in and hopefully get some volunteers on board to help as usual - weekend challenge, monthly challenge and some of our regular weekly/monthly spots are all there for them, and schedule-making etc is, naturally on my plate as well as yours, so between us we can make this work!

YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!!!! in case I haven't said it lately. I LOVE EVERYONE IN THIS BAR!

You be as scattered as you like!

I'm pretty busy this week with trying to wrap up my mum's birthday present; my A-Level presentation evening tomorrow; and a sustainabilty online course I have to finish by Monday.

I am also having an operation on my foot on Thursday which has the benefit of being waited on hand and foot but the downside of I may not be able to go see Star Wars that evening :(

Still I have got my White Collar H/C Advent submission to finish and I still have a long way to go with my Small Fandom BB.

Thanks to you guys here for the motivation all the way through the year and all the challenge. I am also happy to help out with running more challenges this year now I have settled in!

Happy Holidays everyone and good luck with your projects!

Happy Holidays and happy projects back at you!!! I'm so thrilled we could help!

Fingers crossed for the a-levels, surgery, and fic!!!

Christmas has kind of taken over recently, but I'm making progress on my series and even finding that Rumplestiltskin, the character I historically always found hardest, is working better with me now!
Dec. 17th, 2015 02:39 am (UTC)
That is excellent news! And we will still be here after the holiday!
