....'cause when their mouse batteries die, and somehow in switching the batteries the doc gets WIPED and iCloud autosaves a blank screen where about a thousand words used to be...... they will want to cry.

I could cry.

I know I should know better but...this happens? Right? Tell me I'm not alone. :|

Thank you. It helps. Gaaaah. Okay, shaking it off and going for a walk.

Enjoy the walk and maybe that as your muse telling you that what you'll come up with this time will be better. :) <3

oh that sucks! I've never used iCloud, but I have lost things while working in notepad because my battery died before I could plug it in to charge/save what I was typing up.

Either way, it's the worst feeling, right? If i'd written it on the machine itself, there'd be versioning.... which means in the future I have to just manually *make* versions on the cloud. It's not hard to do and I know better, but..... grrr. Just grrrrrrrrrr.

It was your reward fic for the brag book. :|.

Maybe bizarra is right, though, maybe a better version is demanding to be written. :?

It was your reward fic for the brag book. :|.

I had a feeling that's what it was, but bizarra is right. Something better is waiting to be written.

so sorry to hear that :( tho i'm kinda surprised that this happens on a CLOUD. WTH? :/

I know - if one good thing comes of it, I've learned that Pages on a device save version, but iCloud for Pages is just one big thumb drive. Overwrite something...and you've overwritten it forever. Hope that maybe saves someone else a little grief, maybe.

I have no idea what writing on iCloud even IS, but UGH I still feel your pain. And I think I probably *would* cry! Here's to hoping that the rewrite will go smoothly and be even better than the first draft!

Thank you! You may be better off for the not knowing. :). It's really just a way to get to your docs wherever you are - which is great, if you only use it for transport and download stuff immediately. Ah, well - something got learned, so there's the bright side. :/

UGH! That sucks! *hugs*

It did! It kind of sucked the air out of my writing energy this weekend. But.... lesson learned, and at least it wasn't 5,000 words lost! Eek, imagine that. Save and duplicate! I will from now on. :)

It's a sad lesson to learn. :(

OMG, I don't work with iCloud, but I have had moments where Word's Auto Save doesn't work and I've lost pages and pages of work. *hugs*

Been there. Done that. Cried lots. Stopped crying. Wrote again.

I know that failure to back up happens, but it really has been reassuring hearing I'm not alone! And maybe the story was a little better, less wordy, for having been written all over again a second time. So there's that. :)
