A to Z Challenge - Letter A

New Year and New Goals!
Time to reset this challenge!

This year the A-Z Challenge will run biweekly, on Wednesdays, with another challenge on the day's I am not running.

So here how the A to Z challenge for our community is going to go. The rules are simple

1. Each post is either a hundred words or more/ or you can make a graphic/art
2. You choose the topic! As long as it starts with that week’s letter.
3. Post on your Journal, on your AO3, on your body if you dare - as long as you link the post with a word count in that week’s post.

See easy-peasy. You can write about your favorite H50 guys. You can do originals. You can write love poems to your cat. You can write about how great I am. As long as it’s following that week’s letter. We will be going in order so you can pre-plan your posts now.

Are you excited? Are you jumping up and down? Running around the room with joy over such a cool challenge? Well stop that, running and jumping will not get you those word counts :)

Please join me in honoring the letter:

How could you NOT do an Atlantis one.
Jan. 2nd, 2014 01:45 pm (UTC)
I could have done Asgard but didn't think of that until afterwards when my sister reminded me...but Atlantis works quite nicely. :)

An Ode to witchyemerald:

(112 words! WOOT!):

There was a young girl called Emerald
I don't believe she was bald
I could be wrong
I'd write a song
But without knowing the truth I'd be stalled

Instead of a poem about this fine chick
I should be writing more fic
My mind is lost
You see the cost
Of not thinking like usual 'bout dick

A story with porn or with romance
Would surely make her dance
I know that she
Is like to be
Happy when the guys remove pants

So it's time to take my leave now
Before Emerald asks me how
It is that I
Am not saying bye
And spinning tales with which to wow!

This made me laugh so hard, I might have to change my pants! I love it so much!

*Hugs you so hard*

800 words - Anubis.

It's a background worldbuilding original fiction ficlet in the universe I'm writing a novel in: a meeting between a poet and a well-travelled sentient starship. It's probably pretty impenetrable, given the obscure context, but it's the kind of thing I write quite a lot of when I'm still fleshing out a world. Right now it's locked to myself on LJ. If anyone wants to read, just let me know and I'll edit the custom settings
Jan. 1st, 2014 09:49 pm (UTC)
This sounds so cool! World building is so hard, because of the right balance of how much and how little to give.

Hats off to you

Title: A Is For Alone

Characters: Mona Vanderwaal.
Rating: PG
Warnings: Spoilers throughout S1 and S2
Summary: Written for the A challenge at 1_million_words, because come on, an A challenge was just screaming for a PLL A fic. Mona finally feels that she has power over the girls who made her feel like she didn't exist

Mona's whole life had been one long birthday party that she wasn't invited to

Jumping in a bit late, but here is my A!

Jan. 16th, 2014 04:35 pm (UTC)
Thank you! :)
Jan. 16th, 2014 10:06 pm (UTC)
Just wanted to check - does the title of the story have to start with an A? The main topic/theme of the story has afraid / angst in it... just wanted to check! :-D

(I wanted to write the title - the many sides of Afriad - would that be fine?)

It's okay - I re-checked the post and noticed that something has to start with a letter so I started the story with the first word: Afraid - hope this is okay! :-D

(Many Sides of Afraid) - Stargate Atlantis, John Sheppard/Radek Zelenka (at the end), angst. also for Word of Day and Rare Pairs challenges!

Hope you enjoy! :-D

Sorry I was out for the day. Yes as long as you use SOMETHING with the letter A to inspire this story, you can name it "The Story" and be good.

I am so happy you did the changed, and will be reading your story soon
Jan. 17th, 2014 07:15 pm (UTC)
I must not have ever posted that I wrote this (or put it somewhere else, which wouldn't surprise me, really)... Better late than never, I suppose.
